I’m sorry I didn’t pause every second to see the detail of every moment.

99.9% of people watching won’t ever notice that. You’re being a real dick to counter a point that we don’t know enough to know if this is good.

I’m not counterpointing any value of if it’s gonna be good, bad or great.

I’m countering the bullshite of you saying there is “no story or characters” and then after I point it out. you telling me there still is no story or characters. I’m just mystified at your thick-headed-ness.

Seeing a character in the teaser doesn’t mean you know shite about the character. Seeing a space ranger take off into space and then come back doesn’t mean you shite about the story. Again, That’s just part of the backdrop. We are TOLD it’s an origin story in the damn description. You’re not describing the story. You’re telling me the setting/premise.

Bless your heart.

Man travels into space (shown) but comes back into the future where earth is different. even has aliens on earth (shown). He’s a fish out of water in the future and looks sad (shown). He is still a Space Ranger (shown) but hasn’t made his mark with Space Command in this future (assumed) He gets his new suit (shown) and is called into action (assumed) for his big moment against the Zurg-bots (shown), who are controlled by Zurg (shown—who is referenced when the doors mysteriously open like Darth Vader’s door) will they stick with the “I am your father” storyline like they did in Toy Story 2? Unclear. You can deduce (assumed) he wins his big moment as he became a hero that toys were made for.

Either way, that’s a story. Not a premise/setting.

Well congrats, y'all have made this thread fricking painful to read.

As for the teaser, it looks great. I'm sure my kid (2) will love it.

Also what makes this more insulting to Tim Allen is both he and Tom Hanks have refused to do any other voice roles outside of Buzz and Woody knowing their characters were iconic and didn’t want to become whores in the market. Polar Express is a bit of an exception, but that was motion captured and Hanks was the producer of it, so I’ll give him a pass on that. Tom should have been very vocally opposed to not bringing back Tim to voice Buzz Lightyear.

Seriously man you’re making about 10 assumptions on what you think the story is. Almost none of that is in this teaser unless you want to have a pointless pissing match and go through frame by frame because I said it looked excellent but the characters and story are an unknown. And on top of that you’re being an a-hole about something you’re wrong about. Bad look.

I counted and edited. 7 storylines were shown in the teaser clips. 3 are assumptions/educated guesses.

He looks sad is a storyline. A tentacle (who knows if it’s an alien or plant) is a storyline. I would say you can’t make this shite up… but you actually are. Bravo.

So returning to an earth that is much different (as evidenced by a throat-grabbing tentacle) is not a storyline?

A normally triumphant character looking sad before he becomes triumphant again is not a storyline ie: part of a character arc?

Characters looking sad is absolutely not a storyline. It doesn’t tell you anything other than conflict exists. Which… this may sound crazy to you… happens in every story. It doesn’t tell you anything about the story though. Again, he leaves and seems to come back. A premise. We don’t have to keep this circlejerk going. The movie will come out. You’ll be wrong about most of it other than the premise. And you will laugh it off.

According to the M/TV Board he's too busy with ritual sacrifices.

You’ll be right that he leaves and comes back at another time. (The premise) You’ll be right about him being sad (conflict exists. Giving you credit for this is sad. ) Youll be wrong about the story itself… you know. The part that we don’t actually know yet.

When he faces of against Zurg and the Zurgbots, will you man up and admit there was a story in this trailer?

Depends. Is it the “big moment” or climax as you assume or something else or glimpse. What if it’s the reason he’s gone so long and happens early?

No it’s not. Both Hanks and Allen hold the characters in extremely high regard and is the project they’ve participated in that they’re the proudest of. Do you really think that no other animation studio has reached out the guys who voiced Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody? I’m willing to bet they’ve turned down dozens of films, and even quality ones, for their regard of Toy Story.

In fact when Toy Story 3 was in Disney’s control, Hanks and Allen refused to be a part of it since the script was absolute trash. Once Pixar returned back to Disney, Pixar instead of hiring them brought them into the studio midway through production and showed them the working film with a winged soundtrack and the animators voicing the characters. They were immediately in when they saw the ending.

I'll contend it's his big hero moment. (Although I may even be proven wrong by the next trailer.) They usually don't give you ominous glimpses like the bot army or villain door openings without inferring a major conflict.

I may actually be wrong about the order of "sadness" (though it will exist.) He could be missing a gf or family or robot buddy early on. Could be the initial motivation for even joining the military.
