Picard Season 2 Discussion. Spoilers Now Included

As much as I am not a fan of the new Star Trek and felt Picard Season 1 was a let down my curiosity to watch the first episode for pure nostalgia compelled me to take a look. It was better than season one.
No spoilers until page 2 but since everyone knows Q is returning thanks to the trailers I have to say his entrance was outstanding. Better than what the trailers showed.
At the end of Ep. 1 it did provide an overview of what to expect.

I have been debating on watching this series at all. Can you talk a little more about season 1?

TLDR version; white straight men are bad

I jokingly refer to it as "The Picardians of the Galaxy"..
The short version is Picard is out of favor in Starfleet, he's disenchanted with how the Federation shite on the Romluans during the evacuation of their home world being destroyed by the Supernova created in the JJ Trek era and becomes part of an ensemble crew on a journey that made no sense.

After season 1 I'm not sure if I dare watch season 2. I may at some point but the first season sucked. Bad

It's gotta be better than the last season of Discovery

Wish they didn't do that. I was intrigued at the end of the episode; then they showed the rest of the season will focus on keeping production costs low.

season 1 might be the worst thing i've ever seen on tv. you have to hate yourself to watch this show.

I watched it last night. Parts of it were very slow.
Guinan makes the Hindenburg zepplin look small and her part of the show seemed to be unnecessary . The bridge scene on the Stargazer was pretty good. DeLancie is a much better actor than Stewart.

Patrick Stewart has totally lost that powerful Shakespearian voice he once commanded. He sounds like the feeble old man he has become.

Since we're not doing spoilers until the 2nd page I'll say that I did enjoy the episode more than pretty much anything in season 1. Which isn't saying much. I actually appreciate that they addressed Picard's age so directly this time. It was painful how much he came off as an old man in season 1 trying to run around every where. He just can't speak or move with the same cadence.
Here's hoping it will continue.
I am interested to see what happens with the [species redacted] who showed up on the bridge and what they've been up to since we last saw them in [series redacted].
Which leads to me to respond to this quote. Both were great in TNG. DeLanice is still great. Stewart isn't bad now, but his age is just coming through too much. I also love how the explained away DeLanice's aging. I assumed it would be something to mock Picard with and it worked. Deep fake was pretty solid.
I'll talk about this since it was in the trailers it won't count as a spoiler, but I don't care much for the time traveling aspect that this season looks like it'll go in. Especially since it'll be coming to "modern times." This has been done in previous Star Trek shows and movies and watching Star Trek characters drive around in modern cars and use guns just doesn't intrigue me.
Plus, Discovery has done time travel and multi-universe to death at this point.

Since this is a bit of a slow thread and enough time has past for people that are interested to have watched I changed the title thread to include spoilers from this post on..
So Garnet, go for it

I mean, I guess I said all I needed to except I am interested to hear more about the status of the Borg and what this overture has been about since they got pummeled throughout Voyager.
I'm hoping the "look up" comment isn't actually an assimilated version of Picard's mom and was only used because the Borg have all of Picard's memories.

OK, I put off watching S2 E1 but after the positive comments here—I agree, it’s good. Much better than anything in S1
Sad to see all these old people bc it reminds me that I’m a lot older too.
But Jeri Ryan can still bring it at 54!

Season 2, Episode 1 was the most promising episode of "new" Star Trek (discovery and picard) I've seen yet.

Yup, but I also like Picard's Romulan girlfriend...
that scene with the young blonde dealing with the guy trying to pick her up was a hoot as well...

EP 2 Dropped. I didn't like Q bitch-slapping Picard. He's "damaged" and pissed at Picard over something.
