Would the bombs not just float away in the first scene? Why would they fall "downward" toward the dreadnaught in the vacuum of space?

Also, why put a giant gaping vulnerability on the dreadnaught? Why not allow the bombers to fire the bombs at least a small distance?

Well “swooping” of ships doesn’t work in space.

And lasers aren’t “lobbed” over long distances.

But that’s near the bottom of a long list of issues with this movie.

Magnets. Or mini thrusters.

This part made absolutely no sense especially considering the first order ships had laser bombing cannons.

If they have mini thrusters, couldn't they program them to a target so they didn't have to fly right over it?

Why don't they have battering ram cannons on their space ships?

Why don't they just hyper-drive ships into destroyers ALL THE TIME. Why did they let those first 2 support ships just run out of fuel and die anyway; why not turn around and hyper-drive through the ship with the last of your fuel if it works so god damn flawlessly?

Also, how is the bomber pilot just hanging out in a bomb bay open to space, and then waiting for the remote to fall down to her?

The longer this thread goes the more I'm going to hate this movie

It was definitely a good idea to have slow-moving bomb-filled ships that can only drop the bombs via an easily losable clicker fly super close to each other with minimal defenses

I whispered that to my cousin during the scene, how the hell was she breathing? They should’ve at least shown like a barely visible shield for oxygen purposes

Finally someone says something that was actually my biggest problem with the movie.

They show that hyperdrive can be used extremely effectively as a weapon in this movie, which further cheapens the other movies. Why not just hyperdrive straight through the death star in ANH? fricking idiots in charge of star wars now are making some careless choices.

People tend to not want to die if they don't have to

Why not have hyper drive weapons?

Have a droid autopilot it

However that would take a role away from a female or minority character so I could see why they didn’t go that route

I’m more baffled by the angled laser cannons the first order was using, why the frick would they think that makes any sense at all.

How many people died because of the death star? Why not add hyperdrive technology into some kind of missile.

The more I think about it the more the scene and the choice made to include it becomes laughable.

How were the rebels ships faster IN SPACE than the first order? Also, why didn't the first order just speed up? Is there a maximum speed before you can go into hyperdrive? No because the rebels were supposedly going faster.

First order had a ton of fuel left and couldn't just speed up.

I think the ships that large would have some gravity of their own.

What really got me more than anything else was the amount of destruction the ship going to warp through the fleet caused.

Seems like the first order would have large drone ships that could go to warp into other ships.
I mean they could have evacuated a ship much sooner and had a droid pilot it into the fleet.
