My dad lost a signed, first edition copy of The Old Man and the Sea in Katrina. I still shed tears over that one.

Mine is the My Book House series. Amazing books. Mine were printed in 1936. Not sure how they have survived 80 years, especially with 25 of them being with me.

It is a truly amazing collection containing true stories, legends, poetry, fairy tales, and classics from cultures around the world.

For example, just 3 books of the series contain The Divine Comedy, Faust, Lohengrin, excerpts from The Ramayana, The Kalevala, The Odyssey, The Saga of Frithjof, La Chanson De Roland, ShahNameh, Aeneid, El Cantar de Mio Cid, 1001 Arabian Knights, Beowulf, The Tale of Bygone Years aka Primary Chronicle, The Tale of the Rhine-Gold, The Tale of Igor's Campaign, Kraljevich Marko, and Don Quixote. As well as selections from Edmund Spenser, Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Irving, Zangwill, Tennyson, Kipling, Longfellow, Ibsin, Arthur Chapman, Robert Burns, Edward Rowland Sill, Chaucer, Sir Walter Scott, Robert Browning, and Richard Wagner.

I also have 3 signed special editions of the first Shannara trilogy.

My most prized possession is my library itself. You don't find many people under 30 with over 2000 books. But my wife and I do.

TKAM signed first

Dude.

Have you checked the value now that H. Lee expired?

I can't imagine what it will rise to now...Geez.

And I don't know if I should be impressed or disgusted, but a signed first print of The Gunslinger...well, bidding starts anywhere from 5k on...and King is still here!

That is nothing short of tragic. seriously.
I know he's still heartbroken.

Man, you got me thinking about my Louisiana books, and I've looked through 6 boxes in the attic and CANNOT find my signed Tim Edler's...anywhere!

I had

T-boy, The Little Cajun
T-boy and the Trial for Life
Maurice the Snake and Gaston the Near-Sighted Turtle
The Adventures of Crawfish-Man
and
Swamp Wars: Dark Gator, Villian of the Atchafalaya

My brother lost Crawfish-Man Rescues Ron Guidry when we were kids...

At least I still have my sisters Clovis Crawfish books by M.A. Fontenot. One of them signed...published by Claitor's with the Perkins Rd. address.

ETA: My sister says the Edler books are in her storage unit in Denham...The Adventures of Crawfish-Man was given to my nephew for Christmas late 80s.

Absolutely, it was his favorite book. He was out of town on vacation when Katrina hit so he never had a chance to pack up anything.

One day when I'm an OT baller, I hope to be able to buy him another copy.

Yep, I know- I actually found it for a buck at a library sale.

I will just keep it- leave it to the daughter someday.

First Edition of the Stand with this sweet cover:

Not in great condition however.

First Edition of House of Leaves, when it was really difficult to read. Which I also destroyed reading for obvious reasons. It is now wrapped with a rubber band and some saran wrap. It looks mega cool, like an old tome read too many times.

I have 4 volumes of Audels Carpenters and Builders Guides published in 1945 that show you carpentry and contracting skills. Fully illustrated and show everything from framing to Windows to how to hang a door and plane a piece of furniture. What's really cool about them is these are the books my great grandfather bought to teach himself the business.

I own a signed first print of Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Probably my prized possession as far as books go.

I see you like King. One publisher/print does the best paperback copies of his books. It's the one I have all his books in spare a few.

You don't seem to have any of them.

Do you have IT?

My prized possession is my Mother Goose book. Looks legit.
