Lets just go ahead and put spoilers in the title

Every Peaky Blinders thead on here I like to mention how much I hate Michael. This season just made it 10x worse.

They just made him out to be a gangster and a legit/large responsibility member of the family way too fast. One episode he's a clueless kid on a farm and two episodes later he's got on a three piece suit, a pocket watch, razor blade hat and a high and tight haircut. He has never been a believable character to me.

Yeah you guys are 100% right.

I think I looked away at my phone for a few minutes and when I looked up, the alfie scene was on. I was confused as hell until I realized what was going on.

Ehhh, I didn't really love this season. There was a few cool moments, but overall it felt a little disjointed.

You are not alone. This season is my least favorite.

Can you expand on that? Not hating, just curious.

At the beginning I felt the same as a few posters saying it wasn't as good as the others. But, when I finished it, and even once episode 4 started, I really enjoyed all the strategy and deception this season had throughout all the characters. Honestly, the only character that didn't really do anything for me this season was Pol. She carried her typical matriarch persona throughout, but never stood out in my opinion. The death of Aberama, HER FIANCE, confirmed her role was more like a pawn this season than a queen she portrayed in the past. Maybe that's why she ended up resigning at the end. Dunno.

It's hard for me to dictate which season is my favorite because I see them so far apart from each other due their release dates. Each season can be binged in two days. Hell even one day! So unless you rewatch the entire show before the new season, it's hard to compare.

If any of you are like me and find it difficult to understand all the words being said, try watching with subtitles. They help me follow along with the storyline soooooo much better which then helps me appreciate the writing and understand what the fook is actually going on

The season definitely had less "action" in it than previous ones, but I think the writing and the strategy behind the main characters' thought processes more than made up for that lacking.

Side note: I find myself even laughing out of appreciation for the characters' personas...

The scene when Finn ran to the pub after the Chinese held a gun to his head. Thomas and Arthur holding him up while Thomas grabs his pants to see he hadn't pissed himself when having a gun to his head was hilarious to me. As if it's just another day in the life of a Shelby to have a gun pointed at them. Then they tell him he's done a great job and give him a promotion to the tracks.

Earlier in the season when Arthur says in the meeting "sometimes death is a kindness" and then looks at Thomas for approval after Thomas had told him to say that to his son . That one got me good. Typing this out I just remembered that's what Linda told him when she woke up. How she's glad she didn't kill him because it would have been a kindness. Gah, that's great writing to come full circle like that.

I put on subtitles for everything besides sports and stand up comedy. It doesn’t bother me to be there if I don’t need it but there always seems to be stuff you miss without it even when there isn’t an accent barrier. Could be a mumbled word or a certain tone that comes across more clear when you get the subtitles

Something I've always wondered..

Are those fake cigarettes cillian murphy smokes? If they're real, this dude shortened his life span 10-15 years for a role. Respect

There are fake movie/TV cigarettes that he probably uses. In California you are required to use that and not real cigarettes. Not sure where they film but I’m certain that’s what they use.

Also Netflix reportedly was going to ban the showing of smoking cigs on their original content so I’m curious how that goes. It’s obviously not their original production so I guess that’s the loop hole hit would be silly if everyone just stopped smoking in the next season

My favorite scene (I haven't watched final episode yet... hitting it tonight) was Arthur with his "father." He's like, "The Irish.. they're good fighters. Real Good fighters... but so am I!!!" Locks, loads and comes out Rambo style.

Psycho-Arthur is the best Arthur. As Tommy said, "My brother is spoiling for a fight.."

I felt like there wasn't a strong, coherent narrative. There were constantly new elements showing up that ended up not going very far. It feels like there's a missing third act that ties it all together. I realize this may have been an intentional choice to reflect Tommy's mental state and struggles with PTSD, but I found it unsatisfying.

I remember interviews with the cast of Mad Men where they said it would be impossible to use real cigarettes even if someone wanted to because the actor would get sick from having to smoke over and over again for multiple takes.

SPOILERS

So, I just finished the season an I'm very indifferent. I enjoyed the idea of the new season and wanted to like every episode. But, it was just off. I hope that this season was just the set up for the next two seasons/ movie.

Did anyone else notice the background deep breathing that seemed to go on during the last couple of episodes? Only happened with Tommy on screen. My original guess was that happened when Tommy was getting closer to death. But, now I'm thinking that it was just when he was seeking Grace's help. Any thoughts?

Arthur Shelby is one of the greatest characters of all time.

Paul Anderson just nails it, IMHO.

Love Arthur Shelby. Although I will say they seem to completely change his personality every season without much explanation

Great season, as they all have been. The only problem I have with it, is the season length. The season is only long enough to establish the new story line and basically introduce you to the "Setup" and briefly into the " "confrontation". Its almost if the season is cut into two parts.

Again it’s the same length as all the seasons

I do think they made this season more as a setup for the next season or the finale of the show (which the writer had said would be 7 seasons)

Agreed. I think they've said 7 seasons and possibly a movie.

My one wish is that they would have killed Finn instead of John. Finn sucks.
