I'm officially done with the MCU. Silver Surfer was my first favorite comic book character. He was just a different kind of guy. Everyone else was big muscle and bravado. Surfer would spend an entire issue sitting on his board and contemplating the universe. This kind of thoughtful male just does not work in the MCU, where most men are either villains or morons.

We had a thread about this earlier in the year. The report was from deadline, who's the best in the business. Not sure why empire decided to bring this up again.

In the comic books the silver surfer was Norrin Radd, Shalla-Bal is his lover from his home planet.
He became the silver surfer in exchange for Galactus sparing her and the planet.
In this iteration Galactus picked Shalla-Bal as his herald instead of Norrin Radd, or perhaps there will be 2 heralds like in the earth X comics.

Because it’s now on the marvel website. Are you disputing Marvel’s press release which states she’s SS?

This isn't new. In Earth X there are 2 silver surfers and she is one of them.
In the Earth X reality, Franklin Richards as the new Galactus bestowed on Shalla-Bal the same powers as Silver Surfer enabling her to be with Silver Surfer as the second Silver Surfer.
Pretty sure they are riding with her as the silver surfer cuz someone saw Ozark and wanted to make her the villain

But it is an actual character, a silver surfer from the comics. Written in 1999, with Shalla-Bal's first appearance being in 1968.

In this iteration it's Shalla-Bal who becomes the Surfer, not Norrin Radd.
No idea what the story is going to be, but they could have threaded the needle with this to service the fans as well as push girl-power:
Story starts after the FF are established. Part of the initial focus would be to have Johnny with his girlfriend, Frankie Raye. She and Johnny love each other, are even talking about marriage. She would love to share the heroic part of Johnny's life, but knows that can never be. She's okay with it, but you can see that longing in her eyes whenever he flies off.
Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd) comes to Earth as the herald of Galactus. He turns on Galactus to save the Earth as in the comics (read: Ultimate Nullifier), but part of the deal Galactus cuts with Reed is that he will make the same deal to spare Earth as he did with Norrin Radd to save Zenn-la (Norrin's home planet). Someone will need to volunteer to be his herald.
Enter: Frankie Raye making the heartfelt sacrifice of her relationship with Johnny for the fate of the human race. She becomes Nova... OR... they could set the stage for any herald of Galactus becoming the Silver Surfer. With this, Norrin would be depowered and teleported back to Zenn-la, then the conversation with Galactus would reveal that the reality of space travel caused Norrin to not realize that hundreds or thousands of years had passed on Zenn-la so that Shalla-Bal and everyone else he knew there have been dead for centuries.
