It's not often that a Scorsese movie gets nearly shut out of the Oscars. Unless I missed something, it looks like Cinematography was the only nomination for Silence.

I've only seen Moonlight so far. I've got a good bit of catching up to do.

With that being said, I've heard great things about Arrival & La La Land.

Interesting. I hope she still stays on Preacher with her new found fame. That being said, I won't be watching.

It's a really good film.

I'm kind of shocked Scully didn't get nominated. I loved it.

**I also just realized Hell or High Water was nominated. I saw that one as well. Jeff Bridges did a phenomenal job.

Yeah that's surprising. I haven't seen it yet, but my guess is it wasn't released in time to pick up enough steam before awards season.

La La Land will more than likely run the table and break the record for most Oscar wins. It was a truly sensational movie in what was a down year for powerful "best" pictures.

La La Land had the advantage of going against only comedies at the golden globes. Oscars will be "tougher". That being said, I think it will get 7 or 8 wins. Definitely won't "run the table"

That'll be tough. With 14 nominations, they would need 12 wins to break the record. Two songs were nominated, so that is already 1 loss since "City of Stars" will likely win. And the favorite for Best Actor is Casey Affleck, so they would have to sweep the rest. I don't see that happening.

Meryl Streep is simply the GOAT. The Donald thinks otherwise but the nominations and awards don't lie.

Emma Stone's performance in La La Land was captivating. I hope she wins Best Actress.

He might have a chance.

I thought he was much better in this than in True Grit.
