This film will inspire a new wave of Leftist terror across the country.

I don’t agree with your take that this movie is awful, but I do think Easton Ellis has a point with his criticism.
I thought it was a solid, well made movie, but the hype around it IS probably because it aligns with the reviewers’ sensibilities. That’s been my main gripe with film reviews for years now, you can usually read a simple plot summary and predict how the reviews will trend, regardless of the actual quality. They simply can’t be trusted anymore.
Overall I think the movie actually portrays the absurdity of both sides at times, all while being entertaining and having some really funny moments. The sympathies definitely lie more to the left than the right, but I don’t think it’s quite as black and white.

I'm curious to watch it when it comes to streaming. From what I've read about the book (never actually read any Pynchon yet), and some of the early articles about the movie, my expectation was that it would be something of an absurdist satire more than an endorsement or "timely" statement.
Of course, a lot of critics live within a bubble of "timely" commentary and look for timely statements everywhere.

One thing you can take to your grave is that Sean Penn and Tony Goldwyn would not have signed on if they thought the leftists were made to look equally at fault as MAGA

Well, there's this from Variety, of all places.
Pass.

What gives away the type of people they are is the fact that they’re always denying what they are.

Or maybe it was good enough for him that he got to act as an extreme retard that lampoons the side he hates.

Why are you insisting on making my point for me?
Thanks, I guess

Oh, and this movie cost $140 million (some rumors claim 175!) to make???
How? Why?
That's as much as some lower end (and slightly better performing) MCU movies, w/ all manner of CG FX!!! Holy schnikies, that's gonna be an instant bomb for the studio, but OK, nominate it for all the awards. It's gonna need to draw in 700 million to make a profit.

It’s a flop but they knew it would be. The idiots arguing it isn’t are too ignorant to realize there have always been a lot of Oscar flops through the years.

Like wearing a mask or overpraising a movie or TV series which is clearly of lesser quality, yet they still want to push the agenda. One just needs to look at the recent Jimmy Kimmel ratings. Got a spike when he came back, now they're lower than before he lied about who killed Charlie.

Bret Easton Ellis described OBAA as having a “liberal mustiness,” LOL. I’m a big PTA fan, but think I’’m skipping this one.

Apparently 50 million of that was to Leo, who knows how much Benicio got. But yeah, where is the production value? I think they chose to shoot the whole thing in California. The kickbacks must have been extreme.

The production cost is because they filmed in multiple real world location set pieces. That’s always the most expensive thing to do in Hollywood
