When paired solely against Braveheart and 300, I don't see why anyone would consider that an outlandish statement. Come on.

Gladiator, definitely.
Gladiator>Bravehart>300
I just don't like the CGI over-the-top comic-book style of 300 (yes I know it was based on a graphic novel) and I feel like Gladiator doesn't drag in the middle as much as Bravehart. Gladiator also has better production value and a better protagonist. Bravehart has much better supporting characters, however.

Braveheart
Gladiator
The other movie doesn't exist.
Excepting the historical bullshite (which Gladiator also has in abundance), Braveheart has very little against it.

300 is a fun movie, but Gladiator and Braveheart are true epics. Gladiator is better though.

Gladiator and it's not even close

Gladiator
Gladiator is obviously a better film than 300 but it's not as fun to watch for me personally.

Gladiator tops for me too, over Braveheart.
I enjoyed the story more, the battles more, I thought Commodus was the better constructed villain, I was mesmerized by Lucilla, and perhaps most importantly, to me, Russell Crowe is Maximus no matter what else he plays.
Mel Gibson is, well, Mel Gibson. To me, it's Mel Gibson in Braveheart, like Mel Gibson in The Patriot, Lethal Weapon, Mad Max, etc. Too recognizable, detracts from the immersion into the story.
Crowe, on the other hand, is like Viggo Mortenson in LOTR. He portrays the role well, is believable, but when I saw it on first release, I didn't already have a preconception of Crowe as someone else.
Now, if you're seeing it for the first time years later, that might be different for you.
300 just doesn't approach these movies. That was a fun movie, but not in the same class.

Braveheart, easily. It's an incredible film.
300 was fun.
Gladiator was meh.

I love all 3. I'd go Gladiator because IMO it's a better rewatch. Braveheart next. 300 is not as good of a story but I like it.

I'd throw Kingdom of Heaven - Director's Cut into the mix. In fact, I'd chuck out 300 and add the Kingdom of Heaven to this discussion.
PS: Yes, the theatrical version was a steaming pile of crap but the Director's Cut is just an altogether different movie. A classic epic in every sense. Ridley Scott should have fought tooth and nail with the studio to release the DC originally in the theaters.
