Also Beth is complaining about how they have no money or prospects due to John being a lousy businessman- yet she's gonna go and get a $200-300/night suite down south for a year to be close to Rip.

She has made a lot of money in her career and hasn't had to really spend much of it since moving back to the ranch.

The Ranch kind of needs it at this point. Maybe she should pony up her “I DID A BUSINESS!!!” gains to the struggling arse ranch that she magically saves with a mouse click and a phone call.

After those last 2 episodes i was not in a hurry to watch the new one but it was ok i guess. Slightly more entertaining.
I feel like they need a good finale and cliffhanger to this season.

I have a cousin who married into an OLD Wyoming ranching family… Like settled in the 1880’s and own 150k+ acres.
Their revenue streams beyond cattle are performance horses, a mule deer and antelope outfitting service, maintaining pipeline right of ways, heavy/oversized long haul trucking.
They live in nice houses and have plenty of nice shite, but no chopper, no personal chef, and I think they have 2 full time ranch hands, not 6 or 7.

I decided to start watching as I found 1883 ok and it's not as terrible as I expected. Sure, it has some WTF moments, but it's fairly entertaining.
And I don't even mind Costner. I think it's because his voice is so different. I hated his voice in the past.
btw-One thing I do hate is the rodeo crap. People really give a shite how far a horse slides? You're a badass because you can make it slide farther than the next guy?

And it appears the helicopter has disappeared after the first season. Probably realized didn't fit well with the not making money claims.

reigning isn't a rodeo sport. Its its own sport. And yes, a lot of people care about how far that horse slides. And the trainer is considered "badass" for training the horse to do it.
Don't shite on stuff you know nothing about just cause you know nothing about it. The horses and the effort put into training them and showing them is considerable.

Correct. Alot of the abilities of these horses translate to working cow horses.
The whole reason all that shite was even put into the series is because of Sheridan and his efforts to make this show his own personal advertising platform.
Ive grown tired of the constant contradictions in this show and the half-assed attempts to make it look real. The indian chief now said john is "their governor too" when all along they've prided themselves on being a Sovern nation? I know a lot of people have enjoyed them actually showing some "cowboy" stuff but they do it in a way that its so half-assed its almost disrespectful. They work in little nuggets of factual information like the beef industries issues with packers and the threat of bangs disease in that area of the country. Its just all over the place but to me it appears they have really cut the budget a lot the past 2 seasons.

I've grown incredibly fricking tired of Beth and her bullshite on the show. The constant memes being shared on social media about how perfect Rip is and how much he loves Beth drive me up the fricking wall. She's so over the top it's almost comedy. At least they don't have her kicking cowboy's asses.
Speaking of woke shite, I'm impressed with how little there is. A few characters obviously forced by the network, the black sheriff that sounds like he's straight out of Harvard(in Montana. ok) and the two women that ran the big hedge fund. Other than that it's pretty anti woke.
I mean the tree hugger got tossed in prison and then got her arse kicked for being a pretentious bitch. Followed by her seeing the light and saying ranchers aren't all bad.
Might be why it's so popular.
