Must be new (and by new, I mean the last 15 years).

I enjoyed the movie very much. I thought Kevin Bacon was great as Shaw. I think they also did a great job of showing Magneto and Mystique's motivations.
January Jones is smoking hot, but still can't act for shite, she must be count in real life because that the only thing that comes across in every role she plays. (I did like the 'Mad Men'-like misogyny of Shaw making her get some ice for his drink, I'm the only one that laughed in the theater)
I liked that they kind of changed up the cast of characters a little bit (Cylcops get boring after a while). I think they set up a new storyline nicely, but I hope they stay away from trying to shoehorn in too many characters into the future movies.
Overall I thought it was very well done. The 'round-up' montage and training montage was better executed than most sports movies.
eta: Also, I find it kinda funny that even in this movie where they talk about acceptance and not being prejudiced and all that stuff, they still killed the black guy first.

Did anyone catch the part where Shaw is talking to all the recruits right before Angel goes with them and he says something about "being enslaved"...camera goes straight to the black guy as he said it. Made me

Almost everyone in our movie theater caught that and everyone was laughing at that scene. Kevin Bacon also has a funny facial expression when he looked straight at the black guy and said something to the effect of - How long will you be a slave? - which made it funnier.

Just saw it, loved it! The cameo was priceless and classic
I had an annoyance or two, but I will save that for the eventual spoiler thread.

Okay then, so what surprised you more seeing Jackman, or Romijn??

Romjin surprised me more, but Jackman's was certainly better and instantly iconic. I don't think Romjin had any business being there. In the sequel let Jennifer Lawrence continue with the role. She was good and I enjoyed her in it.

there is one great cameo that the audience actually applauded in the theater.
My audience was DEAD frickING SILENT during the cameo, and it bugged the shite out of me. I was literally the only one in the theater that had any kind of reaction.

My overall impressions.
I enjoyed the movie, and to me, it lived up to the hype.
SPOILERS
That being said, there were some things that bothered me.
1) Emma Frost. Wasn't she also in X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Wasn't she also much younger, even though Origins takes place much later? Wasn't she also NOT a bad guy in Origins?
2) Darwin. Why couldn't he adapt to survive the energy blast that Shaw crammed down his throat? Isn't that his power? That made no sense to me.

Perhaps its just adapting to external environments and not internal?

That actually would make sense.

Correct on all accounts. The filmmakers said they tried to stick as true to the other films as they could, but had to make a few creative changes to really make the story work. You can't have the Hellfire Club without Emma Frost. She also had basically an unnecessary cameo in Origins so wasn't that hard to retcon it. A bigger deal would be how Prof X was paralyzed but he appears at the end of Wolverine still able to walk.

I think the point of this was just to show how powerful Shaw really was and that it was gonna take more than a bunch of kids with powers to beat him

Who gives a shite about X-Men Wolverine? The film was awful, and like the Star Wars prequels it isn't canon in my mind. Vaughn said he'll attempt to stay close to continuity, but he's not going to do so at the sacrifice of the story he wants to tell. Like in the original film, Professor X said he met Magneto when they were both 17, which clearly doesn't happen in the film, but if he stuck by it, it would have ruined the film. That is why every prequel in history up to this point has failed, and Vaughn certainly realized this.

Also a good explanation.

Saw it this afternoon...so fricking awesome, I literally thought about seeing it again, like immediately

I had zero expectations going into this film--quite frankly because there has been very little marketing for this film (unlike Green Lantern which looks like crap
). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and the Wolverine cameo.
