I just finished it. That was a great pilot. The look and feel of the show was awesome. The dialogue was top notch. I am really looking forward to this series.

Everyone is looking past the obvious. Despite the title, I sense some supernatural flair

As of now. My bet for the "copycat" is demonic possession

They said that the new murder had details consistent with the 95 murder that were not released to the public which would be why they're asking hart about cohle, and chole about the murder

It's unique and interesting enough without bringing supernatural shite into what is shaping up to be a great cop drama.

If they want supernatural they should go watch the 5,000 other shows/movies based in this state dealing with that

I was thinking along the lines of revealing something supernatural at the end. They've shown some things that look SN but could be dreams or visions. "Fallen" demonic possession but revealed at the end.

Cohle looks pretty fricking disturbed in 2014 as opposed to 1995, even though he was pretty fricked up then

People addicted to disassociatives tend to be pretty fricking disturbed

I would agree! This looks like one of those shows that would be awesome to watch all the way through in one shot. It really has a strong movie feel to it. I am also thinking that the copycat idea for the 2010 murder is too easy, but I am not sensing a supernatural twist.

Of course, I haven't looked to see what source material is out there. The guy who wrote it, LSU grad, appears to be extremely talented!

At the risk of being "that guy," I noticed a small mistake related to a billboard for a missing person. This was set in 1995 and it was using the 337 area code... Which didn't come around until '99 or so.

With the subject area being Santeria there will be some supernatural especially religious based. The hints like the ghost of his little girl may be psychological though instead of straight she is a ghost.

Lol. This guy..

I usually look forward to reading the MTV board thread after episodes of most shows I watch. But your posts have pretty much ruined this one, with the bolded text above just sending it over the top. Please don't try so hard next time.

making an impossible character just to make it interesting is the sign of weakness

jesus christ SFP it must suck having your brain sometimes. you probably have an inner monologue critiquing your girl's moans during sex.

I do think the preacher is a shady character and will factor in. Not sure if it's the murder though.

For a little bit me and the wife thought they were going to do a spin on the Jennings serial killer with it being hookers and what not.

I read a review of the pilot and the writer mentioned the potential for an unreliable narrator a la Verbal Kint. Should be interesting to watch develop.

Thought it was a great first episode, really looking forward to this show. What was the deal with the stick figure that was discovered in the fontenot's shed?

yeah Rickety. their stories seemed to start at the same place but seemed to diverge as the episode went on. My guess is that when they caught a suspect in 1995, Rust thought it was the wrong guy. When the guy struck again in 2002 it was the straw that broke the camels back in their partnership. Rust is so drugged out/crazy he is institutionalized for awhile. When he gets out another murder happens and they bring him in for questioning under the pretense of Rita destroying files, they are getting Woody's character to help build a case against Rust.

I know several people that are whack jobs but are so fricking good at what they do people just deal with it.

Why are you trying to suck all the fun and life out of this thread.
