I was slightly scared i had bought tickets to an actual sneak peak instead of the movie when they played all the premiere hype junk before the feature.

Just got out.

Loved it. It had a wonderful build up, hit all the nostalgia, and a nice minor plot twist.

Exactly my thoughts. I’ll add that’s the most fun I’ve maybe ever had in a theater as well.

I saw with my two boys,we high fived people on the way out when the movie was over. Its that good, pure adrenaline. It did a great job of blending the old with the new. I had only one gripe...keep waiting on some one to say "just like beggars canyon back home"

I don’t even know what that means.

ETA: ah, a Star Wars reference.

This movie is so good I'm ready to go see it again and again and again.

Can't even find the words yet for how good it is.

Can anybody tell us about that first plane he was flying? I thought I was gonna have to whip it out and go to town right there in the theater when I saw that thing. Appears to he a 2nd generation of my fave plane ever. But I've never heard of it existing.

So aggravated I missed this. I even googled and searched fandango last week for early showings and still missed it somehow.

Wife booked a cruise for this weekend and I told her I was staying home to watch this.

I always wondered what it would have been like to watch the original in theaters with sound involved. But I was only four when that one came out.

I was 17, living in a military community in Germany and saw it in an AAFES movie theater full of other military brats and soldiers.

It. Was. Awesome.

Can’t wait to see this one.

Yeah I was like 2, but had older bros so grew up on Top Gun.

I've tried to watch the original twice, in 2 different theaters, over the last few years, and both times the theater had a problem with the projector or something and they couldn't show it.

My body is ready. Pissed I was oblivious to this advanced screening.

Without any spoilers, how did they handle the Icemen situation since Val Kilmer can’t talk? Did he have any lines?

Iceman is sick in the movie and communicates via typing on a computer but he did have a couple quick lines where he spoke. Hope that wasn’t much of a spoiler for you

Going tomorrow night

Can’t wait.

I’ve stayed away from all trailers .

I know the cast but that’s it.

For those that have seen it, would you recommend for a 7 year old that hasn't seen the original? Anything too inappropriate for that age?

if you care about language, i think there was one f-bomb dropped. it might've been Rooster that said it towards the end.

other than that, it's pretty much like the original. no nudity or anything like that.

I think one of the highlights was giving the female a lead role and just let her be one of the pilots. She wasnt greater or worse than anyone. Girl power without rubbing it in our faces.

When i tried to take mine when he was younger he got bored and kept trying to make me take him to pee every 20 minutes. But nothing in there he shouldn't see.

Thank y'all for the input. On vacation...there is an open air theater, and it's the only option playing for the next week. I'd like to see it, but I don't have a great feeling for how much enjoyment my son would get out of it. Second factor is that the only showing starts at 9:00 p.m. Would be a late night - especially if he's not into it.
