two separates things.

Okay guys, enough comic talk in this thread. Nothing has been spoiled, but the potential is there.

I thought when Rick was with Morgan and his son, They explained to Rick that the wife/mother got bit, started burning up with a fever from the bite, died and turned. And they also either said or inferred that anyone that is bit, dies and turns.

Not sure talking about the release schedule of the comic is a spoiler, but I guess it takes one bad apple
And yes, a bite is a death sentence. Not instant death but unless you severe the limb, you will die. They've touched on this numerous times throughout the series and no one has ever survived a zombie bite unless the bitten limb was immediately severed.

Maybe there are a lot more people in TWD's universe
irrelevant
if enough people die to create the landscapes that we've seen, then there was a huge initial surge. those would all be dead by now
they would decrease exponentially after that
seeing walkers would probably be about as rare as seeing a mountain lion

The human mouth is a very disgusting thing.
People are bitten, and eventually succumb to a combination of the infection and other unknown factors that may be attributable to the virus/whatever it is , when the person dies the virus/whatever it is takes over and kick starts the brain again.

Yep, which is why Rick chopped Hershel's leg off.

not really. Initial parameters are really important.

Not necessarily true.

definitely in certain areas of the country.

By getting bite the saliva or whatever is in the zombies mouth gets into your bloodstream like a virus or infection that leads to death which then leads to turning into a zombie.
This was discussed until it was stomped to death at the end of season 1 and season 2.

It's nonsensical to try and apply sense and your rules to works of fiction.

I've been bitten by everything from a person to a dog in my life and never have died from it...at least I don't think so.
In the Walking Dead tv series, if you are bit by a walker you will eventually die unless you chop off the limb, and it's not from a normal/everyday infection.
Now whether or not it is from bacteria that only walkers (and Komodo Dragons I guess) have, I don't know. But it isn't just normal bacteria that a normal person has.

Yep. Basic zombie fiction 101 and literally every piece of zombie literature (books, movies, games, etc) follows this one rule.
You get bit...you gone!

Walkers decompose at a slower pace

they don't really have a lot of access to antibiotics
and we are talking about a creature who eats other dead, decomposing flesh.
It's like getting bit by a Komodo dragon

they could have 100B people on earth...doesn't matter if we never see other humans. they're all dead
quote:
Not necessarily true.
fewer humans = fewer humans dying
fewer humans left = less food for those walkers who are still around, which means they die even faster than the first wave
that's an exponential curve

but this makes no sense with the "everyone who dies becomes a walker" line of reasoning. by making infection both automatic and pervasive, it changes the "basic zombie fiction 101", yet the show still keeps it. can't have your cake and eat it too...at least with a straight face

that's assuming humans disappear at a linear or exponential rate.
