Damn. Can't miss walking dead. Will have to catch the replay.

Anyone hear the debates from Afrocentrists that ancient Egyptians were black? I've heard some Southern history professors teach this.

I'm a bit confused...he was tested with the ultimate sacrifice, only to be told not to do it at the very last second. This was a test to make sure he was worthy of leading god's country....so he then takes his people into famine and then marches them to Egypt where they become slaves?
Guy needed another test or two IMO

Never "knew" all this story about Abraham makes me think the bible is even more stupid

If I recall he was tested more than that. But that was the ultimate test. It would take unfathomable faith to do something like that. That's what God was looking for.
It really is a symbolic foreshadowing. God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, just like Jesus.

There is a parallel somewhere in the Bible about a father killing his son. Hmmm. I think it's in the New Testament somewhere. Can't remember.

Beat me to it. Really I see the entire Old testament as just one big symbolic foreshadowing. To me the Old Testament makes little sense unless in light of the New Testament. I'm sure a Jew would disagree.

Well slaves didn't really build the Pyramids.

Right...to make sure he's the one or something. He could've chosen a better leader though. One that would have provided food for his people and not lead them to slavery

I would not use the word stupid to describe the bible. It has a ton of awesome stories in it. Even if you don't believe, it is highly entertaining

I find it's better to go through life not being so cynical. You clearly don't believe in God so just watch it as a story, they're pretty good ones.

Well lots of those stories were borrowed from other sources such as Epic of Gilgamesh

This series is not as good as Hatfields, America, Men Who Built America, etc.
Ten Commandments with Heston set a high benchmark.
