I watched the Friday the 13th remake last night. It was better than I expected, couple of decent scares.

The one from 2009? I thought it was actually pretty good as well.

Re: Shudder. Does anybody know how it works for this free trial that’s supposed to be going on? Cox has been advertising a free trial from 10/5-10/8, but any time I try to watch something it wants to make me subscribe ($6.99 a month). There’s no option for the free trial. And I don’t want to click subscribe and have to pay the fee if it’s supposed to be a free trial.

Anybody have any ideas?

Yeah, I had heard the "athletic" Jason wasn't as imposing as lumbering Jason, but I found it more realistic.

I agree. And it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but didn’t they have him using a set of tunnels or something like that to sort of explain why and how he’s able to keep up with everybody running away all the time? I seem to remember liking that explanation as well.

I never cared for slasher movies.

I liked them when I was younger but they are boring now.

Arachnophobia

Love that one. Even as much as I hate spiders. It’s great.

Tremors

One of my favorites. I can quote it start to finish.

I’m really disappointed in the lack of Shudder free trial.

The original phantasm is a real slog IMO. I have t seen the sequels, have heard they’re great, but . But the original movie is just not very watchable

Yeah, I’m on the hate it side. Felt like a student film filled with performances that remind me of weird performance theater shite

Phantasm 2 and 3 are the best of the series. The first one has a creepy feel to it but the plot is confusing. The second and the third have the right mix of weirdness and creepy vibe with a somewhat coherent plot. Some good gore effects too.

The OG Phantasm absolutely terrified me as a kid. The tall man, the flying killer orb thing, the alternate universe dimension thing with the tiny slave creatures, etc. Scared the shite out of me.

Since I am now grown and love horror movies, I watched it again a year or two ago and man it was pretty bad. Almost so bad it was even silly at times. And the orb thing was literally only in the movie twice, for maybe a minute or two tops. I was really disappointed. It’s borderline terrible.

Coco, you should go see when evil lurks. Might only be in theaters this week. Hits shudder the 27th. I really liked it a lot but have no friends who will sit through horror, much less foreign horror.

Starting kill list, but I’m also drunkenly crafting Halloween decorations with a glue gun. If the movie needs 100% attention I’ll have to set it aside and watch the craft or something.
