Wow, what a let down. Not sure if to say terrible, or just not good. Did not like.
Seriously? How can you not like this movie?

Let me just drop in one more time to say this movie is okay . . . but a disappointment. Too much standard action/adventure shite cluttering up what could have been an intereting idea. Didn't hate it. But found it to be a little bit of a let down.
How was this a let down? What were you expecting? This movie is one of the most intellectually rewarding movies of the past decades.
I bet you thought "Anchorman" was an amazing movie right?

The question is actually "whose subconscious are we going into?". I made sure of it while watchin it tonight.
Btw, great thread guys. shite is intriguing.

This is a review I got from a "friend" this morning:
I'm no longer friends with this person.
quote:
Too long, too much dialoque, terrible acting.... stupid story. Plot of a 10 year olds mind. I think that covers it
I'm no longer friends with this person.

Is it ok to think both movies were amazing for different reasons?
Also, for the guy above whose friend hated the movie for those reasons, I agree with no longer being friends. How can anyone say the acting was terrible? I thought that was the best part of the movie.

My favorite is the "plot of a 10 year olds mind". I would like to meet the 10 year old that thinks up that plot.

The Dark Knight was in the top three for a while. It'll fade, but it'll probably hang in the top fifteen or so. Still great.

Um...what?
When I say "action", I'm referring mostly to fight/flight scenes. They most decidedly did not comprise half the movie.

I abhor lowest common denominator stuff. I'd say I go to the movies to see art house/indie films about 90% of the time.
But I did not enjoy "Inception". Sorry.

Right there's your problem.

Ok.

Ok.
Um, so your contention is that fully half the film is dedicated to punching, shooting and chasing?
Care to put your money where your mouth is (continually spilling out bilge)?

The last half of the movie. Done. I win.

Doing just fine, thanks.

Are you fricking insane? In your mind, the entire last half of the movie = punching/shooting/chasing?

The way that totems work is that there is a secret function that only the owner of the totem knows, such as Arthur's die. Its weighted so that it always rolls a certain number. The only information that he can gather from that is that he is not in someone else's dream, because if it were his dream, his brain knows how the die is supposed to work and can adjust the dream for it to work accordingly.
I haven't decided on my overall theory, but I've seen this argument a few times to indicate that totems are only useful in determining if you are in someone else's dream.
I have 1 problem with this: since people can project things into someone else's dream (people, guns, etc.), couldn't they project their own totem into someone else's dream. Since each person knows the specs of his own totem, that would make it just as useless as using it to determine if you were in your own dream.

Are you sure you even saw Inception? I don't see how you could classify it as anything but a (smart) action movie. I know you died a little inside admitting that you liked something popular, a blockbuster that's doing huge business, but it's ok Jersey. Sometimes even you're due to like something.
ETA: I will give you there is less "punching." That only really factors into the hotel hallway rotating scene.

I classify it as a smart movie with some action.

I know you are still living according to your fantasy script that somehow I inherently don't like blockbusters.

Right. For instance, the huge quantity of movies I post positive things about. Your insistence on being blind to that is just creepy.
In any event, put your fricking money where your mouth is. You said more than half the movie was action - including the astonishing claim that literally the entire 2nd half is action. Put up or shut up, count.
