I was horribly disappointed. I mean, really, do you need to invent a stupid snake fight? And while I did want to see the final fight drawn out a bit, it stopped making sense.
And what's with the making Voldemort a comedic relief character?
Those are just the two easiest gripes from my point of view

I was disappointed. I think they took too many liberties with the story and changed a few too many things in the story.
I give it a 6.5/10
I know it's a movie and blah blah blah (the book is always going to be better).... but watching DHp1... I had high hopes.
This is pretty much how I feel. There was also entirely too much Harry and the theater I went to was full of morons that had not read the book and kept clapping. Some dumb bitch cried for the last hour of the movie

Seriously, that is idiotic.

Also, people don't clap during the majority of movies.

The movie was about as close to perfect as you could get until the part where Harry and Voldemort drop from atop the tower. From there until the death of Voldemort...it was very "meh" and a HUGE departure from the book that just wasn't necessary at all. Still, it was only three minutes of imperfection out of the whole two hours. It's still the best Potter movie by far....but they could have handled Voldemort's death A LOT better.

Some chick was sobbing in ours after Harry "died", once she realized she made a point to let everyone around her know he was still alive. It was like shite we get it your retarded.

You misunderstood me. People don't clap in the majority of movies. People clap at midnight releases of Harry Potter. People don't clap during Cars 2 or Horrible Bosses or Zookeeper. The point I am making is that it is silly to quit going to the theaters because of people clapping. You won't come across that during your average theater visit.

Maybe they didn't need to, but it certainly served it's purpose. Killing the final horcrux is an epic cinematic moment for the series, and they tried to make it that. Whether or not they accomplished the task is up to you.

I'm not following you here. The final fight really wasn't drawn out much.

Once again, it suited the moment. He thought he had finally killed Harry, and his arrogance got the better of him.
The biggest and only real gripe from me was the lack of information on Dumbledore. I was really looking forward to that part.

I agree, the last 20 or so minutes were pretty craptastic. No one even said anything to Harry when he KILLED VOLDEMORT. What the frick was that about? He was supposed to kill him in the great hall jeez.
They totally left out the reason Snape and Lily stopped being friends, which was also somewhat important (like everything about Dumbledore's history).

One of my friends really hated it...
I didn't feel quite this strongly

Just got back a couple hours ago from the midnight showing...don't know how good a state I'm in to convey all my thoughts at this hour, but I feel it appropriate to spend my 3000th post here.
In short, I loved it. This turned out to be, in my opinion, the best film in the series. For the beginning portion of the movie I was worried it may not quite meet the expectations set by DH pt. I, but by the time it got to the Snape scenes all my doubts were blown away--I had also been worried about how said scene would go, since I'd heard reviews saying it "glossed over" Snape's story, but I felt that despite not going into great detail it was portrayed in a concise and riveting way here.
I do have to wonder what exactly the point was for the "We'll finish this the way we started...together" fight bit.
Also, this has little to do with the movie itself, but I saw it in D-Box seats which made fight scenes absolutely incredible.
Now I'm going to bed, thoroughly satisfied with the end of this era

Thought it was great. Didn't mind the additions to the movie that swayed away from the book. Found the killing of the snake to e a bit drawn out but didn't mind the way it had been done, it made for a visually stimulating experiance. Two things that made me say WTF in the trailers were when Harry and Voldy lept from the tower and when the statue army was walking. Not until those parts were shown did it make sense and didn't hurt the movie. Dissapointed in the lack of Dumbledore's backstory and the fact that at the end (after the 19 years). No one asked Harry if his scar hurt, not a big loss there but it adds to the movie as in yeah this bitch is really over

Dear morons, stop clapping. The actors on the screen can't hear you. You're applauding a wall.

Went to the 12:01 showing at the Destin Rave w/ my son, neice and her friend. They all loved it, as did I. We all thought it is the best one.
Caveat: we did not/have not read the books, so we did not have the baggage.

I want to watch this series but all I've been hearing from people is that the movies were a disappointment. Nothing extraordinary like it should be the way people are acting to go see this movie. I've heard this statement about every other movie.

What the cameras show always pales to what is in the mind's eye (although, I think LOTR completely pegged it).

thought the movie was great, only thing is i feel is it shite all over the deathly hallows - never really had that conflict of going after horcruxes vs hallows that made the book so epic. fight scenes were great as was the escape from gringots. also the lack of dumbledore back story is understandable but just wish they would have found some way to tell his past.
