Dent faked being Batman to draw the Joker out into the open so that the real Batman could take him down. I assume they needed to fake Gordon's death because a) the joker was going to come after him and/or his family and b) they needed a third person they could trust to execute their plan

i dont think dent was in on the plan to catch the joker. when gordon and dent meet in dent's office, gordon is trying to get dent's approval for something that he cant give dent any details about. and then after everything happened and they caught him, dent made a comment to gordon about understanding why he needed to keep it under wraps. that tells me dent didnt know about the plan.

also, when dent says its time for batman to reveal himself at the press conference, they show bruce wayne beginning to step forward towards the podium, and then looking totally shocked when dent says he is batman. that tells me it wasnt something the two of them had planned out.

Was pretty sure that was just about warrents on the Mob banks.

i dont think so. why would dent make that comment after the joker's arrest if that was the case?

Yeah I couldn't really decide if Batman was in on it or not. It was kind of ambiguous after he told Dent to call a press conference. They didn't tell us what was going to go on. So I guess Dent knew the Joker would come after him and that Batman would crash the party.

The meeting for approval was about warrents. I doubt this plan for the Joker tied into that because right in the scene before they dismissed him for the mob.

The comment he made with that meeting doesn't mean there was a connection between the two. Just a statement of how Dent now understands why operations need to be held close to the vest sometimes.

First off, the movie was amazing. Ledger was simply stunning as the joker. I hope there is a third one.

I want to know a little more about that kid reese, though. First question is, why did bruce wayne sacrifice is awesome car, and his own life to save this kids life?

Second question, did reese actually know that bruce wayne is batman? it seemed that way to me.

Third question, could nolan have been setting up the "Robin" character with this kid? I thought he might have

Im not into the comic book batman, so i dont know much about it. Great movie though

SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!!!!!

He DID know bruce was Batman. Wayne sacrificed the Lambo to save his life, and when he looked at Bruce after the wreck he realized he saved his life and wouldnt say anything. Or atleast thats what I got out of it. I think it was basically Ill save your life so you will STFU and keep your mouth shut.

I doubt Robin will be in any of Nolans films IMHO.

My simple review-

I went in with super high expectations. I thought the movie was a tad bit too long. Like everyone as said, Ledger was very, very good in the role. He did in fact make me forget he was Heath Ledger and lost himself in this role. To me, it has Oscar nominee potential, but seriously doubt he wins. Again, JMHO. I felt like the Joker was not fully "let loose" in the whole film. Yes he did cause havoc, but a part of me really wanted him to be more demented and sick. Like gruesome sick. Not that he wasn't, but I was expecting something really over the top and it never happened. Again, not taking anything away from the performance but thats just the way I saw it. As for Batman, the voice got really annoying. I wish they could have done something with that. I get that he didnt want anyone reconizing his voice but they could have worked on that. The movie also kinda of reminded me of Saw in the matter of how the Joker had a grand plan in which he made people make life changing decisions. The ferry scene, Harvey and Racheal bomb scene, and the transformation to 2 face is what comes to mind. Obviously not as gruesome as Saw, but thats what came to mind when I saw it. Also, the underlying stories of the real world was something I had to process for atleast an hour after the film. When the Joker said no one pays attention to a bus getting blown up, but everyone freaks out when one important person goes apeshit(something like tha I cant remember the exact quote) really hit home as being how the world really it. Nolan really hit home with how the real world is through the Joker and the mafia with how hard it is the really get to criminals like that. Do D.A's have to turn their back on some crimes to save their own asses? Tons and tons of underlying stories and situations to make you really think about it further than what is on the surface of the movie. The action scenes were really put together nicely. The bike scene where he flipped it on the wall kinda disappointed me with the unbelievably of it. Definately will go see it again just to take it all in and process it differently than the first time. Overall, I cant say if I like it more that Begins right now, but it was a great film.

Yeah, in Begins he's talking to Rachel as Batman, and he purposely quotes something she said to Bruce earlier in the movie.

Did anyone else think Gordon was still alive?
I did the whole time for a couple of reasons.
1. I've always know him as Commissioner Gordon (not LT. as he was addressed in the 1st 1/2 the movie).
2. The trailer for the movie kinda gave it away . With so many scenes of him that come to mind or hint to him being alive(because they didn't occur yet) such as, the jail scenes with Gordon saying he just has knives and lint. The joker saying "good evening, commissioner" and the whole interrogation scene in the trailer.

I think we can stop putting "SPOILER" then jump down 50 lines in every post. The movie has come out. If you are reading this thread and you have not seen the movie you are a dumbass.

That is what I said.

but some people came in anyway, with one being fricking moronic enough to bitch about about major plot points being labelled as "only" Spoiler as opposed to MAJOR Spoiler.

So why not? Doesn't hurt.

But yeah, now that Spoilers are listed in the thread title, we can probably do without them now.

I recommend it, I was shocked at the shite I missed.

Odd thing was that the previews changed out for the show.

He knew Gotham needed to look to Dent as a good guy and they knew hope would be lost if the "best guy" in the city turned bad. The whole thing was that batman needed to look like the villain because thats what Gotham needed him to be. The Jokers whole deal was to make people know that anyone could turn bad and people were truly bad. Batman and Gordon could not show Gotham that the Joker really won.
Spoiler:

That is why the Joker saved Harvey instead of Rachel by giving Batman the wrong adress because he knew he would save rachel. By giving the wrong adress to Batman Dent was saved and the Joker brought the bad out of him like he had hoped. Pretty deep stuff.
