Nicole A says if it is meant to be it is meant to be. Nicole A says Maybe Memphis will take one of us down if he wins veto. David says he can do that? Nicole A says yes. [/quote]

David does not know how BB is played. He’s a shitty player and shitty players go home.
And the remark about sitting at the grownups table is nothing compared to nomination remarks Over the last seasons.

Well, so do a lot of people in this thread. It can’t go a page without someone complaining about something related to race.

This is the issue I have. He should've never been brought back for all stars in the first place. He also plays it terribly. The more you talk about "this is my first comp in the house" or "this is my first vote," people look at you like you're a joke in the game. This is all stars and you've never voted to evict anyone? It sits wrong with a lot of people in the game, even the ones who were trying to comfort him yesterday.

As much as everyone in this thread dislikes Chris because he's an annoying self promoter, he at least knew how Big Brother is played. I would have much rather seen him in the house over Kevin or David.

I haven’t really participated in this thread so far this year other than reading it, but you do realize this thread mirrors what’s happening in the game, right. So if race is an issue in the house it will show up in the thread. If a player is known for bringing up race, it will be discussed in this thread.

8/14 Recap

So, if we thought Memphis would have a boring HOH, we were wrong. The house was quite tense last night, and there is a whole lot going on.

It all started with the nominations, where Memphis put up David and Nicole A. The house thought Memphis was a bit harsh when he put David on slop. They really thought he was over the top in his nomination speech. I don't know exactly what was said, but literally the entire house was apologizing to a fractured David after it was over.

I felt that the alliance of six, with Memphis, was not going to work. I have to admit, that at least right now, it is working brilliantly. I don't know how it will last long term, but the entire house is shaken up and are turning to the wrong people to spill info.

Nearly everyone (outside of the 6) thinks that Memphis is working with Janelle and Kaysar. This has Nicole A feeling very confused and out of the loop, because she thought she was working with Jannelle and doesn't understand why she's up. Kevin has a horrible horrible read on the house and he is trying his best to convince Nicole A that she can't trust Janelle at all (and it seems to be working). Kevin is also spilling info to Dani, letting her know everything. Nicole A is also confiding in people in the alliance of six.

Janelle and Kaysar are feeling extra safe with Memphis, and are also feeding him info.

And then there is Christmas, who the other side thinks they have.

The alliance of six is getting literally every bit of info on what the rest of the house is thinking. Most of the house has Cody, Tyler, Dani and Nicole F pegged, but they aren't connecting the rest of the dots and are filling the wrong people in.

The veto, and the voting after will be interesting. With all this info, most of the alliance seems to want to get Kaysar out. That may not be in Memphis' best interest, so I'm not sure what he would do. If noms remain the same, Nicole A would seem like the logical choice, since they know she's working with Janelle. A lot of the house seems to think Nic A is safe though.

Well, whether we like it or not, race was always going to be a big part of this game. Day, Bay, David were going to bring that issue up. A lot of the other houseguest have as well. Not so much within the game, but just talking about the racial climate in the world.

Then the show is on CBS, so it will be pushed by them in shows regularly this year.

That's just the way it will be. I expect the edit to be heavily swayed to racial issues on Sunday. So yeah, it will be talked about here.

It doesn't bother me, up to this point. It is what it is. I just don't want to see someone be unjustly called a racist just because they put a black person up. I also have no issues with how Bay, Day or David have handled themselves up to this point. They have talked about it, sure, but they haven't made the game into that type of thing yet.

This was my fear when I saw her name pop up as a potential houseguest.

She is basically the only real somewhat aggressive/antagonistic player in the house, and she’s such a big personality that it’s easy for her to become the boogeyman while everyone else is sort of silently trying to build coalitions without stepping on toes, aka floating.

As much as I hated them, having Paul and Josh in the house would have made it harder to focus on one target like Janelle. Obviously Dan would have served a similar sort of purpose.

It just seems like there are too many “nice” players that just like to rule through “what the house wants”.

Memphis seems to have potentially changed things up but it seems like that was almost accidental and through his own tone deafness, rather than through strategic decision making. And once he realizes how upset the rest of the house is I have very little doubt he is going to bow down and put up Janelle or Kaysar after veto, even though he has already probably made his bed with the others and will be out soon after those two are gone.

As much as I love her, it almost would have been better to just not have Janelle and add another “nice” player to force the sides to maybe break more evenly.

Overall I’m most bummed about Nicole F being cast so far. She really is a fun sponge and a total coattail rider of the strong guys that was always going to latch onto guys like Cody and try to turn them against Janelle because she is intimidated by her and threatened by strong women.

Should have been Britney

Both of them suck balls as players so why would it not be a good look? Because they're both minorities of course. Idk... something about David just seems like he's always thinking about race and how to have it work to his advantage as a victim

I mean, wouldn’t that be considered good strategy??

Like several here have said, he isn’t considered an all star, doesn’t have the built in connections all these other players do, and even the other houseguests are saying he shouldn’t be there because it’s his first vote, etc.

Why is it out of bounds for him to use the one thing that may actually give him a chance to stick around and play for 500k?

Who wouldn’t do that in his situation?

When memphis was talking with Kaysar and Jannelle last night he mentioned going into the DR and he said production was all over his arse about him feeling david didn't deserve to be in the house. He said something along the lines of "I told them, frick no he doesn't deserve to be here, this is an all-star season..." and they cut the feeds.

In the early going, it seems like Dani has this game in the bag. Completely invisible and running the show.

For once, on an All-Star season, I’d like to see Old School players work together. Is that too much to ask for?

So apparently along with this:
quote:

Tyler: In case you missed it, Memphis put up David and said “welcome to the grown-ups table, buddy” #BB22

He said “Boy, you need to earn your keep”

So everybody is upset about the boy part.

At what point did "boy" start getting turned into a racist term for blacks? It's been going on for a few years now that I can recall and I simply don't get it

I don't think anybody really took it as a racist thing. Bay and Day kind of made it into that when they talked to David alone, but it wasn't anything over the top. I'm guessing it was the tone Memphis used more than anything, because literally the entire house was feeling the same way about it. And they weren't just saying it to David, they were saying it to each other.

It's hard to say, until we actually hear it. I doubt it was anything racial at all, but I also feel that for everyone to get jumpy about it, there was something to it. We will have to wait and see.

I mean it’s been used that way for a long time. Boy being racist is not new.

The problem is it has so many contexts that aren’t racist yet the people hyper sensitive about race will jump on it

Ok dude

If Memphis said that, he is either an absolute moron or was intentionally being disrespectful, which it sounds like from the other quote above, he was.

Either way he deserves whatever hell is coming his way.

Again, IF he actually said it.
