I don't really think that is the case here. The timing of his eviction just happens to coincide with the one eviction of the year that's not during the live eviction.

The taped eviction is usually F4 to F3 if I remember correctly, so it could be a production ploy, but I really doubt it.
There is literally nothing production can do to stop Derrick's influence over Cody, and even then, production would have to sway Cody AND Caleb.

I couldn't remember when the taped eviction usually took place, but knew it was somewhere around this point. But CBS having the Thursday night NFL game is also new for this season, so perhaps they moved it up a week due to the change in airing schedule.
It's possible they're trying to protect Frankie, but I don't really buy it.

Bieber doesn't care about a man in his late thirties with pink hair. And the requirement to sign up on cbs.com in order o vote is too much of a brain drain on Ariana's followers.
