I'm wondering about that scene in breaking bad, where Walt and Jesse first bring him to the desert at night and Saul starts screaming in Spanish, and relieved when it turns out to not be the people he assumes.
Wonder if that will come into play
I was thinking about this as well and wondering if this show will overlap with Breaking Bad.

Well, Saul says this to Walt and Jesse in that scene
Nacho could definitely be a nickname for "Ignacio". Also, the "Lalo" mentioned is a nickname for Eduardo. Be interesting to see if an Eduardo or Lalo shows up soon.
Other stuff from the "Better Call Saul" episode of "Breaking Bad" (Saul's introductory episode) -
He says this to Walt and Jesse in the desert when they kidnapped him. He said the same thing in tonight's episode when the police tackled him and arrested him.
Saul was Emilio's attorney. Emilio, that Walt killed in the pilot episode and they turned into stew in Jesse's bathtub. Emilio was also Crazy Eight's cousin, so we may see Emilio and Crazy Eight make an appearance.
We got Saul's real name in his very first episode.
There are lots of breadcrumbs that are going to be fun to trace back as this series unfolds.
quote:
SAUL - "Talk to me.
Come on, talk to me, guys, huh?
Come on, just tell me what you want.
Jesus!
Oh, no, no, no!
No, it wasn't me.
It was Ignacio. He's the one.
Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no."
JESSE - "Shut up, dude.
Shut up, all right?
Just speak English".
SAUL - Lalo didn't send you? No Lalo?"

Because I got bad knees.

quote:
WALT - "How about we get him a real attorney?
What the hell is this?
This is who he hires?"
JESSE - "What? Are you kidding me?
This is the guy you want.
This is the guy I'd hire."
WALT - "It's the guy you'd hire."
JESSE - "Look, you remember Emilio?
Okay, this dude got Emilio off,
like, twice. Okay?
Both times, they had him
dead to rights, yo. And then, poof.
Dude is like Houdini.
Seriously,
when the going gets tough...
...you don't want a criminal lawyer.
You want a "criminal" lawyer."

SAUL - "Mayhew. Is that Irish or English?"
WALT - "Irish."
SAUL - "Faith and begorra.
A fellow potato-eater.
My real name is McGill.
The Jew thing
I just do for the homeboys.
They all want a pipe-hitting member
of the tribe, so to speak."

This episode ended nicely. Solid first 3 episodes so far.
Will be very interesting to see some old Breaking Bad references come to light. Emilio, Crazy Eight, and the two mentioned by BamaChick, "Ignacio" and "Lalo".

I hope we get some crazy ones like with BB. "You see the salt and pepper shakers? How the pepper is full and salt is near empty? That signifies Walt's changing to a darker human."

Where did the county treasurer get access to so much cash? Besides utilities and traffic fines where would a county have that much cash available to steal?

Possible, but keep in mind we are 3 episodes into a series that could run 4-6 seasons realistically, given the time frame (starting 6 years prior to BB.) I'm hesitant to assume that most of these characters have a direct or indirect link to the BB story, although obviously some do.

First thought that popped into my mind as well. It would take years to cipher that kind of money, move it to another account unnoticed and then withdraw it systematically as not to bring attention to yourself.

Let's keep in mind he is being investigated for the missing 1.6 million.
So it's not like he did a good job of skimming off the top.

Yea, I understand he's under investigation. What I'm saying is that it would have taken years to do what he did without bringing notice upon himself. If he pilfers 50K a year it would have taken 32 years to accumalate 1.6M.

The timeline doesnt' necessarily work like that. Remember, only a couple years had passed in Breaking bad, however the series lasted over 5 years.

I lol on this too. In fact, I lol when you recounted it.

That was so great.
And then all kinds of thoughts went through my head. Who does that?
Saul Goodman, that's who.

This is chump change. Real life example in Dixon, IL: Rita Crundwell

Its mind boggling to think someone could steal from a municipality for over two decades before getting caught. That's an amazing story.

This series is going to be good and I like the comedic side Saul/Jimmy brings to the table. Will it rival BB? Most probably not, but that's a plateau that's almost impossible to reach.

According to federal investigators, on December 8, 1990; Crundwell opened a secret bank account named RSCDA (Reserve Sewer Development Account), making it appear to be a city account. She was the only signatory. She would have money deposited into another account called the Capital Development Fund, create false state invoices, and then write checks from the fund payable to "Treasurer," which she would deposit into the RSCDA account. This relatively uncomplicated scheme continued for 22 years.[
the question is not the amount, it is the CASH part that makes you wonder
just a quick review of BCS on my dvr, it looks like about $400-500K was in the bag in $10k bundles.

I mean once he has stolen it, how hard would it be to turn it into cash?
And wouldnt it be better to have it in cash to prevent taxation?
