Did anyone else notice Vince Gilligan in the Volvo behind Saul?

That button he pressed before entering the house grounded him. His brother has some sort of "electromagnetic" disease, albeit likely all in his head. That's why there is no electricity, putting the phone in the mailbox, etc.
This show hit well above my expectations. I went in thinking it would be good. I'm a huge Odenkirk fan ever since Mr. Show.
This opening sequence and the ending, the Vince Gilligan cliffhanger, where worth the price of admission alone.
Tuco!
And here we are in 10 minutes of the show and they are showing av video of 3 19-year olds ripping a corpse's head off and screwing it, while right before Jimmy was calling them "near honor students, all". Saying how breaking an entering was a stretch because the funeral home stays open day and night was
I am ready for this ride, tonight should be amazing.

I enjoyed the show. First episode took a while to develop, but I really enjoyed the build up at the end with the attempted con with the skaters.

When Saul said he's in their phone right next to their drug dealer, was anyone else waiting for Jessie's name to pop up?

I knew when the other attorney was about to put that tape in, it was going to be bad for Jimmy and the boys, but DAMN.

I really enjoyed the episode last night. The last 30 minutes were awesome and have me hooked already.
I didn't read the whole thread but was the nail salon was the same one that Saul tried to get Walt to buy right?

most definitely
also, no one mentioned this but the diner Jimmy met the treasurer couple in was Loyola's. That was Mike's favorite diner. The one him and Jessie stop to eat at in season 4.

When the skaters tried to con Saul..."The only way that car is worth $500 is if a $300 hooker is in the front seat."

Missed that as well. It is going to be cool little things like this that will make this show even better.

I really liked the pilot and am anxiously awaiting the second episode, but Breaking Bad did not start off slow.
Wasn't the opening scene Walt and Jesse cooking in the dessert, when the bullet holes got put in the door of the Bounder? Then Walt sets the dessert on fire and drives off the rode. Then we get the famous scene of Walt standing in the desert in his underwear with a gun shoved in the back band. He also makes that audio tape to his family. That was pretty a pretty fast paced opening, IMHO. Saul shouold be very entertaining but has a long way to go to equal BrBa.

the opening scene was Walt's pants flying in the air and him frantically driving the RV with a gas mask on and Jessie in the passanger seat passed out. Then we get the build up how all that happened, starting him being a teacher, working at the car wash, etc.
Still the opening scene was wild.

I thought the show started off pretty well, but people are going a little overboard on the praise because of the BB connection. I'd give it a 7/10.

Jessie would have been a teenager when that was taking place.

If it was non-BB related, it's still Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, those guys just know how to do television.
Being BB related could go either eay, earlier on while the show was still airing, people came in here expecting BB-quality pilot with the action, pacing, etc, and came to the conclusion the show was terrible and turned it off (quite stupidly I might add, because the last 20 minutes were incredible)
I'll agree that it gets a head-start because of BB, but that could go the opposite way as well. This show rides on Gilligan and Odenkirk, which I think as with Cranston/Gilligan, is a home-run.

Teenagers don't deal drugs?

Also, completely lost it when Saul was representing those 3 boys talking about how they were young, they didn't kill anybody, etc., and the guy turns on the video and they are doing the head.
The court scene was pretty awesome. "These almost honors students" "bright futures" and the prosecutor doesn't say a word and just slowly rolls out the VCR, inserts the tape and plays it. As it's playing, Jimmy looks at the boys and shakes his hand like "He's got nothing, don't worry about it"
I doubt it was intended that way but it was almost a shout out to Gus in "Box Cutter"
