LINK

1. There Will Be Blood
2. Spirited Away
3. Million Dollar Baby
4. A Touch of Sin
5. The Death of Mr. Lazarescu
6. Yi Yi
7. Inside Out
8. Boyhood
9. Summer Hours
10. The Hurt Locker
11. Inside Llewyn Davis
12. Timbuktu
13. In Jackson Heights
14. L’Enfant
15. White Material
16. Munich
17. Three Times
18. The Gleaners and I
19. Mad Max: Fury Road
20. Moonlight
21. Wendy and Lucy
22. I’m Not There
23. Silent Light
24. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
25. The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Obviously some good picks and some garbage picks in this list. Of the list I've seen:

There Will Be Blood
Inside Out
Boyhood
The Hurt Locker
Munich
The Gleaners and I
Mad Max
Eternal Sunshine
The 40 year old virgin

Inside Out over Up, Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, and Monsters inc?

Boyhood was a decent film, not top 25 IMO.

City of God didn't make the cut? WTF.

Zero Dark Thirty was better than Hurt Locker IMO.

The Gleaners and I makes the list because it's Agnes Varda's biggest film from the 21st century. Great documentary, but nothing incredible IMO. Cleo from 5 to 7 is one of my top 5 films of all time, but it was released in 1962.

Sadly, I have not seen Inside Llewyn Davis, but can it really be better than Oh, Brother Where Art Thou or No Country?

40 Year Old Virgin? Really? No Will Ferrel movies?

No Scorsese? No Tarantino? Nolan? Wes Anderson?

Others that should/could have made the list IMO:

The Pianist
Whiplash
The Lives of Others
Snatch
Bourne Identity

Imagine having some of these movies listed and not No Country

That list is exceedingly terrible.

I LOVE There Will Be Blood. Very deserving.

But fricking Million Dollar Baby? Moonlight winning best picture last year was an absolute joke. Get real.

Where is No Country for Old Men? I mean...come on.

I'm really coming to the conclusion that it is the most overrated film of all time. That's right, even over Annie Hall.

Yeah, I appreciate it's scope, but plot wise it completely falls flat.

There Will Be Blood is so overrated. On the list, but #1? Come the frick on.

City of God is #1 on my list.

Also Children of Men and Pan's Labyrinth should have made the list.

Man, that top 10 is... something. I think there's only one movie in there that would definitely be in my top 10 (Spirited Away), and only a handful I'd even consider (Yi Yi, Boyhood).

There Will Be Blood wasn't even the best movie filmed in Marfa that year.

I like that they recognize foreign films exist, but then they exclude A Separation (or any movie by Farhadi)? Just a massive oversight. We won't even get into the fact Memento isn't on there (or any Nolan film), unless they are using a year 2000 disqualifier.

I've only seen a handful of these.

There Will Be Blood
Million Dollar Baby
Munich
Max Max
Eternal Sunshine
40-Year-Old Virgin

I like all of those, but There Will Be Blood is the only one I would put in the Top 25. And maybe Munich.

As another poster said, I would have included No Country for Old Men.

ETA: I would add Revolutionary Road to the list. I love that movie.

Agreed.

I like that Eternal Sunshine is on it. I love that film.

Otherwise what a terrible list.

Absolute no-brainers. Really, the only question is whether they should be #1 or not.

I don't even think it's all that ambitious. It had a 4 million dollar budget, and you see the kid grow up. You know who else has done that? Dozens of TV shows. If this movie was shot in the course of a year, no one would remember it. Instead they spread it out, and instantly it's genius. I was incredibly underwhelmed when I saw it. The critics were absolutely fooled when it came to this movie.

I think what irritates me about them including The Death of Mr. Lazarescu is that they even mention that it would later inspire a far better movie: 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days.

The Death of Mr. Lazarescu is a cool idea, but it's more of a movie that hints at things to come than being great in its own right. There's not much to the movie, and it's nowhere near as harrowing as 4 Months, which will haunt your soul.

City of God
Whiplash
Ex Machina

Those three are all in my personal top 5 and none on that list.

Objectively, yes I would put all 3 of those in my Top 10.
