Ran across this on Tubi. The story of Cat Catlan (Heston), a washed up quarterback who turns to drink and women to solve his problems. But he soon discovers that his problems are just beginning.

Hadn’t thought about this in a long time. 5.5 on IMDB. Good if you like old movies, but didn’t and won’t win any awards. Filmed in old Tulane stadium and around New Orleans. Features several then Saints and John Mecom Jr.

This movie features NFL journeyman and artist Ernie Barnes. Ernie bounced around the NFL for the first half of the 1960's and then ended up on the Jets roster with the position of "Artist". The owner wanted to support Barnes' work and kept him as a salaried player who never saw the field.

His most famous work is "The Sugar Shack" which gained fame as the cover of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" album, and as the background art for the credits in Good Times.

He's known for Good Times, but sports and athletics art was his real forté.

Talented artist. Good on the jets owner.

The trailer doesn't look promising in terms of script or dialogue, but it's interesting that the NFL allowed real teams to be used.

You mean Good Times lied to me! Pretty sure they said JJ painted that.

It’s pretty good. Heston really broke his collarbone in a scene when he was sacked. Jessica Walter is easy on the eyes.

In the movie, the 2nd string QB is a young black guy. Look for the scenes with the 3rd string QB-- you know who plays him?

The Saints' OWNER at the time, John Mecom.

He has some lines and is even shown throwing a football in the locker room.

He was probably a better QB than owner
