It was clarified in the OP we were talking about actors foray into voice work. Not the Joe DiMagios of the world. Nobody doubts that they're great at their craft.
It's Robin Williams making Genie an awesome memorable character vs. Bruno Mars collecting a paycheck for Rio 2.

Jason Lee and Craig T Nelson from The Incredibles.
I'd say Keith David in most of his roles, particularly Goliath and Dr. Facilier, but he does so much voice work, he can't count. Same goes for Ron Perlman.
Edit: But I can say Jonathan Frakes as Xanatos from Gargoyles. Basically playing as Evil!Riker.

agreed - was my fav character from the series, but Whedon has the tendency to kill off a fav character.
