Science explained the Cyclops Polyphemus? A giant one eyed man?

No. Polyphemus is still supernatural.

Nolan's quote is:

quote:

everything that is now explained by science was once supernatural.

He didn't say that science explained everything. If so, then science would explain Polyphemus as a myth and not real (heh - the Polyphemus in my trousers is very real*).

Have you ever seen an African elephant skull without the tusks?

So they are going to have an elephant guarding the sheep in the movie? Even if Odysseus believed that one eyed giants existed because of skulls that were found, how is that going to make sense in what he actually sees in the movie? Diminishing the gods does make sense in the Zendaya casting choice.

Nolan is my favorite film maker of all time, but holy shite what an arrogant and stupid statement.
I mean this is obviously a true statement, and it’s a fairly common theme in various fictional works (like in Thor).

Grounding movies removes the authenticity of the original story from those who came up with the ideas in the 1st place.

Crazy idea, but why not try to tell is as THEY would, with their understanding and not give us "Well, AKSHUALLY... " bullshite.

if you can't tell the story, then give it to someone else who can.

I dont even have a problem with a grounded movie, but that statement is like coffee house, freshman in college, pseudo intellectual drivel.

He’s not wrong though?
