The last episode ended perfectly if you really understood the character in the first place and the changes he'd gone through over the seasons.

People were hating a little too harshly on the finale when I rewatched the show years later, but by no means was the finale “perfect”. I think his motivations and actions lined up fairly well, but Dexter drove his small boat into a freaking hurricane in open water while completely devoid of any hope left in his life, and lived... It was pretty stupid and ridiculous.

Ah, yes. The inevitable "Everyone but me is too dumb to truly appreciate the depth of the art" explanation. So brazen. So deep. So masterful you are.

I'd like a follow up with his son Harrison, who Dexter doted on and loved so much that he sent him off to Argentina with another psycho and blew off meeting them.

Every single person Dex cares about dies because of his “dark passenger”. He sent them away and he wouldn’t go back, *especially* after Deb’s death; because he knows they’d likely end up dead.

There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

So he was killed and can return, but they won’t retcon the end of Season 8?

What's the chances he is a new voice in Dexter's head?

I have a feeling it's one of those flashback episodes where Dexter will envision Trinity talking and guiding him through an episode or tormenting him on his thoughts, but he not physically be there in person... Kinda like his dad.

Great minds think a like.

They are bringing back the Trinity killer in some capacity. Hope/looks like they are trying to ignore all the garbage seasons and pick back up where the good ones ended
I read Lithgow will do all of his work in one day. Sounds very much like a flashback or voice in Dexter's head.
I'm looking forward to the show. Having the guy that ran the first four seasons come back to run this one is good news.
I am surprised that most of the original actors have openly stated they aren't part of the revival. The actor that played his dad is one of them and I think Hannah and Harrison are also out. I figured Harry's role would be safe as Dexter's conscience. I thought Debra might also be something similar. That actress hasn't confirmed they're not part of it so that's still a possibility.
