Ok, so explain Splinter.
None of these descriptions match the dumb shite that they made him in this movie.

This is your quote. Again, there is no source material in existence that depicts Splinter the way this movie does. So it's either derived from canon or it's not. I get your point about the turtles, that does seem to be a mix of the comics and cartoon characters.
Splinter is a whole new character, even down to how he looks. Like a balding old, feeble rat that uses the turtles to get him snacks.

my point was that this is a terrible franchise to complain about loyalty to the source material because almost every adaptation is not loyal to the source material.
there is no dark gritty violent Ninja Turltles movies or shows
if disney or Amazon was putting out the original series right now this board would be losing it.

You do know that not all the turtles comics are in the tone of the original series right? I understand it's nickelodeon that is responsible for the race swapped April and gender swapped villains. The 2012 series was made for kids and it was more mature than this movie.

I figured they were just copying the into the spiderverse formula of animation art style / swapping characters up.
This isnt supposed to be a continuation of the goat 90s movies, it's a complete reboot of the concept where the turtles /characters have some likenesses
I dont know why you'd judge an alternate universe on its changes from the original.
Judging the movie on its on is the way to go when reviewing something that is not a sequel/prequel

Well the 90s movies aren't all that exists was my point. Nobody expected a continuation of the 90s movies. It's not a complete reboot of the concept though. That's bull shite. They changed enough about it that it didn't peak my interest. TMNT is nostalgia baiting trying to get parents who loved them to take their kids. I don't see the point of changing villains from male to female other than the DEI aspect. Nickelodeon wants black April, so we are getting black April from here on out. The turtles going to school and being out in the open is another thing I'm not a fan off. The splinter changes suck.

If it's just an alternate universe why change all these well established things? Why is leatherhead a female? April a frumpy black girl? Why is Splinter completely out of character?
It's fine if you like it, but this "alternate universe" crap is just an excuse to change everything they don't like to "re-imagine" it for modern audiences.
At the end of the day, I have my opinions on it and that's all I'm expressing. I don't care because it's not for me and I know that. It's more a topic for discussion.

A stretch? I find plenty of black women attractive, I always have. This isn't just a stretch, she's objectively unattractive, although in her defense she's animated.
