might have been the "purpose" as you say, but the reason is because the comic was originated during WW2, selling a patriotic U.S. character to the public, would have been far easier at that time.
Uh yea, no kidding.

She has a defined backstory now that touches on that very topic so your statement is useless.

The purpose of the Stars and Stripes look was due to her being the Amazonian envoy to the USA and it was their custom to dress according to the nation's colors.

It doesn't have to be as blatant as the cartoon or comic, but I'd like it to retain some red and blue.

That might be the explanation they gave in the comics, but the only reason she wears the stars & stripes is because she was conceived during the 1940s and the writers wanted to put a patriotic twist to her.

I think that it would be a lot harder to explain why she would be wearing stars & stripes in a movie that is trying to be as realistic has they can.

I like the uniform but I kinda meh on the thigh high boots. It's definetley very amazon-ancient Greek looking though.

She's getting there in terms of bulk, she just needs some more muscle tone, I was hoping for sonething like this...

They made Hardy look huge as Bane even though he really wasn't that big. I'm sure when the movie comes out they'll have her looking pretty toned and muscular.

Only if they take out the whole "emissary to the USA" thing.

If she is just "there" in society, it won't matter at all, but I think it removes a whole aspect of her character.

Kinda hard for a whole country to be in a movie.

Muscle tone =/= bigger muscles. I meant that she looks soft and thin. Not that there's anything wrong with that. That's how my wife is.

You would expect a super hero to look more physically capable. That's all I'm saying.

Since color apparently killed Snyder's parents, I threw this together in Photoshop in about 5 minutes to show a more traditional color scheme.

Actually, it's the perfect physique for the character. It's right up there with most comic depictions of WW.

Without having a whole movie to focus on her backstory, I don't see them using the "emissary to the USA" aspect of her story. She'll basically be a secondary character in this movie, so they'll be limited by what they can do with her.

Maybe. I'd like to reserve judgement until I see here in a teaser in action. I like the photo and physically she looks closer to what she needs to be IMO. But I always envisioned Wonder Woman as more Amazionian than that (and no, she doesn't have to be grossly huge/bulky to be as such).

She's has always been an amazon in perfect and supremely well conditioned body shape with a lot of bulk and muscle mass. This has always been an accepted and usually required custom with WW.

It could easily be addressed with a news channel showing her meeting the president or someone else.

Who knows what direction they'll go though.

And they need to drop the Lois Lane/Superman thing and go with Superman/Wonder Woman instead.

In the comics maybe. I said this earlier, but in most video adaptations she's not very buff. I think it's unrealistic to expect Gal Gadot to transform herself into a bodybuilder, nor would I want her to. She looks great.

Its not like she has to be Chyna big.

Muscle tone =/= Ripped body builder

She should look like the character.

Also, they better not go all damsel in distress with her in order to play up Supes.

She needs to be supremely confident almost to the point of arrogance.

They showed that perfectly in JL: War when, after Supes says, "You're strong" and she responds simply with "I know."

Don't frick this up DC.

ETA: they're probably gonna frick this up.
