It's 900 years in the future, so I could see how a lot of stuff could change... but honestly, if the Jem'hadar rebelled against the Dominion in order to change their cloning so that they could form relationships and the like?

A Jem'hadar rebellion definitely does seem like it could be a solid story.

I read up on this character - apparently they are a Jem'hadar/Klingon hybrid.

Amazing. A hybrid of two of the warrior races introduced into the lore, and she appears to be one of the most out of shape characters in the trailer.

They should have kept with the Pine, Cumberbatch, Urban, Pegg cast to

Yes, there are plans for another Star Trek movie featuring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, but its development has been plagued by delays and setbacks. While a fourth movie in the "Kelvin timeline" is still in development, it has faced numerous hurdles, including script changes, director changes, and uncertainty about the cast's availability.

Makes it more disappointing seeing this DEI Star Trek clip.

Well, I will wait to see what its about. Discovery was total trash...

Strange New Worlds is pretty good, very much real Star Trek

Maybe this is going in the correct direction still.

Yeah... it's weird to look at what is supposed to be a warrior race and a race genetically bred to fight and the actor they get looks like they could be beaten up by the character being played by Holly Hunter.

It's even weirder when you consider the fact that they have Becky Lynch as a guest star on the show. While Lynch isn't built like, say, Gina Carano, she's still in really good shape.

This was her last year (only current ones I found were on Instagram, notoriously stubborn to embed):

Was also going to add... they have a lot of good IDEAS, I just don't know how well they'll implement them:

quote:

Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir:
A human orphan who is disillusioned with Starfleet and has been on the run for most of his life. He joins the academy as part of a journey to find his mother. Rosta said Caleb is an outsider who is introduced to Starfleet's values at the academy, allowing the audience to learn about Starfleet through his eyes.

quote:

Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag:
A Klingon cadet and aspiring medical officer. Diané reached out to Michael Dorn and Doug Jones, who respectively portrayed Worf and Saru in previous Star Trek media, about performing with the prosthetics needed to portray a Star Trek alien.

quote:

Kerrice Brooks as Sam (Series Acclimation Mil):
The first Kasqian to attend Starfleet Academy. Kasqians are a kind of hologram, and Brooks explained that Sam is only weeks old but was programmed to be a young adult. She said the character is "like a newborn; everything is so fresh to her" and she "brings absolutely no baggage"

It does have Tatiana Maslany in it, but the name of her role is not yet listed. If I do decide to watch this, I am definitely going to be curious if her time on She-Hulk was due to poor writing and direction, or if her overall acting has just taken a downturn after things like Orphan Black.

As usual, you do not know shite about the subject to which you're referring to.

For the rest of you, if the show turns out to be shite, then it's shite. But do not pretend that Star Trek has ever been some bastion of the anti-woke.

As a fellow "First run" TOS graduate, you're right. That big diference was they were more subltle. With perhaps "Let this be your Battfield" it was rarely "in your face". Now it so obivious in social commentary that it takes away many storoes thtat are promising.

Raise your hand if you played the 1997 Interplay PC game Starfleet Academy.

Doing a re-watch/first watch of Enterprise. Damned good show that just happened to come along after Nemesis bombed and Voyager staggered to the finish line. Killed by franchise fatigue and a change in studio ownership and better than just about all Trek that has come out since.

Seems like it's the media quote vs the actor's quote.

Oh you're right. The lack of quotation marks threw me.

Original Star Trek was extremely socially aware and absolutely pushed an agenda. But it was never THE agenda. It was never THE purpose of the show.

But it definitely was consistent in delivering thought provoking storylines. Hell, the Kirk / Spock characters were a statement in itself.

This episode alone was a controversial:

All that said, that trailer looks like garbage and it is clear, the agenda of the show is DEI.

Actually this is call a Fem'Hadar. Due to the lost to the Federation all those centuries ago when the Federation destroyed the Dominon Ketracel White production facility. They realized the weakness of having one method of distribution for their drug. So the Founder engineer the Fem Hadar to still be combat capable and added two emergency "pocket" of Ketracel White so the other Jem Hardar and take can emergency sip from.

Naturally, the bigger they are the more volume they put. The chest area seem the most ideal as it would not interfer with a Fem'Hadar combat ablitiy.

Frank Gorshin delivered Emmy-quality acting in that (although he was not nominated). Brilliant. Underrated.

Jem'Hadar were generated in birthing chambers or hatcheries. Their growth cycle was accelerated such that they reached full maturity only three days after emergence. They did not procreate naturally, and their species consisted solely of males. (DS9: "To the Death")

Because of DEI reasons, there had to be a reason for an overweight black woman be inserted into this cast. To be SEEN.

Woke ruins everything.
