Saying that Star Trek now is anything like the show and movies of the OG cast is flat out false. Besides iconography they have zero in common

I grew up on this stuff. Funny to hear kids try to lecture ME about Star Trek.

The 'seeing myself' in Star Trek isn't a thing anyone cares about. No one ever did.
For the rest of you, if the show turns out to be shite, then it's shite. But do not pretend that Star Trek has ever been some bastion of the anti-woke.

Kirk was a womanizer
Riker was a womanizer, except that one time, but alien poon don’t count.
Sisko had a nuclear family and was married, twice, to women.
Janeway had a boyfriend and a dog.
Seems closer to traditional than progressive.

I wouldn't try that excuse with your friends. That "one time" will brand you for life.

might be the worst lazy green screen bullshite I have ever seen.
Not even CW-ish
More like pre-merger UPN dogshit
What the hell has happened to Star Trek?

There's not a single white guy in that trailer.
Oops, never mind. The villains at the end.

Diversity is slang for "less whites"
No whites is God-Tier diversity

Except, I do. As I clearly stated, I grew up on the franchise. And from what they’re telling us from the trailer, the isolated shots of the cadets, the female commander, they are focusing in on the individuals first, the representation and less about the overall Starfleet Academy story.
I will credit them on the cast. Holly Hunter, Giamatti, Maslany, , and Picardo!
But unfortunately, it’s an Alex Kurtzman directed series. So it absolutely is going to suck. Because Kurtzman Trek sucks.

What's even dumber is apparenlty Star fleet Academy is on a ship. A organzation that spans over 10 thousand Light years is cranking out a few hundred star fleet cadets every semester.
At least before the new Trek, all of San Francisco was Starfleet Academy, an entire city of millions churning out hundreds of thousands recruits every semester. That numbers I believe could support a governing body of over ten thousand Light years.
In Picard Time it was 8 thousand Light years.

And the time he ran across a non-binary gender race, he banged one of them anyway and turned it into a woman.

McCoy: White guy
Scotty: White guy
Chekhov: White guy
Picard: White guy

Data: White guy
Wesley Crusher: White guy
Q: White guy
O’Brien: White guy
Paris: White guy
The Doctor: White guy
Archer: White guy
Trip: White guy
Malcolm: White guy
I didn’t count all of the aliens played by white guys.
That trailer is really bad. Does not look good at all.

It amazes me that you guys think Star Trek would ever be anything other than woke. They’re the OG woke tv show.

I'll focus on a few of the positives, as my biggest gripes have already been addressed in the thread (especially a female Jem'Hadar - they're not "male" or "female" - they're asexual clones that are masculine in feature but have literally no primary or secondary sexual characteristics - no genitals, no boobs, no facial hair, etc.)
I liked the various callbacks - Kirk, Sisko
I like that Robert Picardo is part of it - he was great as the Doctor on Voyager
I'm a fan of a decent bit of Holly Hunter's work
I HOPE there's Worf content if you're going to have a Klingon in Star Fleet academy. All those callbacks but if Worf doesn't get mentioned then frick 'em.
It's apparently set 900 years in the future, so building off of the Discovery timeline. I'm not a fan of that in the slightest.

I read up on this character - apparently they are a Jem'hadar/Klingon hybrid.
It's 900 years in the future, so I could see how a lot of stuff could change... but honestly, if the Jem'hadar rebelled against the Dominion in order to change their cloning so that they could form relationships and the like?
frickin' give me THAT story. A Jem'hadar rebellion sounds amazing.

Jem’hadar getting in touch with their feelings?
Odo ruined the Gamma Quadrant.
