I can't speak for Courageous or Dream House because I don't know their budgets or what they were expecting, but I will maintain that the studio isn't freaking out over 50/50 making $8 million and change. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad, either.

A movie about cancer won't beat a kid's movie about dolphins, and underdog, uplifting baseball movie, or arguably Disney's most popular movie ever rereleased in 3D.

I agree with you.

Judging by the fact that the budget for Courageous was 2,000,000 and it made that in pre-sales alone I think I would call that a success.

50/50 brings in $5.5 million. A pretty solid second weekend number for it.

$27.3 million for Real Steel. Obvious success.

$10.4 million for Ides of March. Pretty successful. It'll stick around for a while. Almost made back its entire budget in 1 week.

Dolphin Tale $9.1 million. Moneyball $7.5 million. Both movies have taken in $49 million and change.
