Matt Shakman opened up about not doing a Doctor Doom story with Fantastic Four: First Steps.
"He takes up a lot of air. Other film adaptations have done both an origin story and Doom. We're doing neither, and that allows us to look at them from a fresh perspective."
I think this is smart considering how the Fox versions of these movies went. I certainly hope there’s at least some references or mentions of Doom in this while he’s in the shadows.
Then give us this as a post credit

The aesthetic watchword for this film meant that, in every respect, the creative team wanted to combine '60s period details with sci-fi imagination. To get even more specific, Shakman describes the film's style as "where Kirby meets Kubrick," with the original Fantastic Four comics and 2001: A Space Odyssey as the major visual reference points.
quote:
In our timeline, the '50s and '60s were full of artists and thinkers who imagined utopian futures full of miracle inventions like flying cars and robot friends. In this world, Reed Richards exists to invent them.
Cosmic radiation grants Reed the ability to stretch his body in all manner of ways, but his brain is even more impressive. The whole retrofuturist aesthetic of First Steps is made possible by his inventions, and Shakman describes him as "a combination of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, and Robert Moses."

Galactus was introduced in a two-part comic story by Lee and Kirby that remains the high point of their collaboration. But when he was brought to the screen in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Galactus was rendered as a faceless space cloud — a rejection of the comics' colorful origins. In First Steps, Galactus will be portrayed by actor Ralph Ineson (Nosferatu), wearing actual purple-and-blue armor; the costume workshop on set is full of various attempts at making his signature look work.
"I didn't want to just use motion-capture for Galactus. I wanted to actually have someone there embodying the part," Shakman says. "So we've built an entire costume for him, and we've done a lot of photography testing to figure out, How do you make sure that the scale is correct? How do you film Mount Rushmore?"
Ineson as a full scale Galactus is going to be incredible. If they get this right, he’s going to be more horrifying than any villain we’ve seen in the MCU

Annnnnd, it's dead.
Pedro as Reed Richards was a major strike. But whatever, maybe....
But Silver SurfHER was a deal breaker. You don't introduce THAT character with her. It's simply not done.
But any shred of doubt that this movie would be saved or remotely catering to the decades of fandom which has brought them to this point is vanished.
Just like Sue's character.

Pedro Pascal and Zendaya are the two most over cast people in Hollywood.

I really am tired of Pedro in basically everything. He's basically a Disney puppet at this point.

Checks a lot of boxes though
Latinx but also white passing, effeminate, with little of that troublesome machismo … he’s perfect!!

Wouldn't be a comic thread without Kaiju shitting all over it with his whining about click bait headlines

If Silver Surfer is your favorite character, you should at least be aware that this isn’t some gender bent version of Norrin Radd. Julia Garner is playing Shalla-Bal, the wife of Norrin Radd in the comics dating back to Surfer’s first appearance. She even becomes the Silver Surfer at different points in the comics, and the entire reason Norrin Radd agrees to become Galactus’ herald is to protect his wife.
If this is an origin story then why are they starting with SS wife as SS when that didn’t occur until much later in the comic/storyline (if at all)?

If he actually bothered to read those articles which I know he didn't he'd see that for Sue it says she won't the traditional stay at home mom that was present in the 60s and will take on a more up front and modern role like she has in the comics. Meanwhile Quinn is essentially saying Johnny is far more than just a one note playboy type character which is how he was portrayed in the Chris Evans films he's far more deep of a character and there's a reason he acts the way he does

Current day bullshite from Hollywood fricking up decades worth of source material & making a terrible adaptation of known characters.
They’re popular as they are, that’s why Disney are using them to make a movie!!
FFS!!!
Disney have proven time and time again they’re NOT smarter than those who came before them.

Because now he’s gay.

They want Sue to have balls and give birth lol. Johnny is def going to be gay.
Posted on 4/11/25 at 12:45 pm to Havoc
It’s the conflict between characters , the back & forth of cocky playboy Johnny & the down to earth Ben that’s a constant dynamic. You make Johnny “nicer, more sensitive “… that’s bullshite! It takes away from the petty squabbles between them and the part where they momentarily put aside their differences and team up to fight the real bad guy/guys.

So if on the second Fantastic Four movie they replace the Thing with She-Hulk, will people still continue to ignore that comic books have always been "woke" and liberal?

I almost feel like you're asking under the misconception that I don't know She-Hulk did appear in FF.
Huh.
Too bad they botched the She-Hulk series, mocked the source material, and the writers gleefully made the fans the bad guy.
Not a great idea.
