There's probably some cross over, but I don't think $900million is unreasonable with all of that in place.

I think that's the ceiling for it, $900M, and it would be b/c of the worldwide market, not the US market.
As i said before, you put out a good movie, people will generally get out and go see it. iF this movie is just average, it will get at least $600M like Dr. Strange
If it's awesome, it'll be $800-900M like GOTG2

Do these comic book movies make a lot of their money in China? Because I could see that market hurting this particular movie.

Why would China hurt this movie, splain?? But to the other people on here talking about the cast being all Black, that's not true, both Cap and Widow will be in this movie along with others. Andy Serkis plays his part in this movie as well as BP's antagonist, but imo people in this uptight world today make out over race too much, way too much. I mean of course most of the background characters and some lead characters will be Black because it's a movie about a Black superhero who resides in Africa. And I think those pictures from EW is shots of his immediate family members, so of course they'll be Black too, and as for the hip hop music. Well, this movie is intended for the younger generation as well as the Marvel fanatics, and the younger generation listens to hip hop music of course. So, I think people just need to quit with all the assumptions and just hope for a really good, entertaining Marvel superhero movie, not Black superhero, just superhero.

so you think people will say "i'm going watch Black Panther b/c he's black, even though I've never seen any other Marvel movie"?

If you don't think there is going to be a huge uptick in the black demographic for this movie compared to other marvel movies, you are delusional.

He dossiers, he has all the money of Batman and then some, he has a nation willing to fight for him and develop tech for him, and he has better tech than Batman. And he could kick Batman's arse.

Black panther has already been introduced in Civil War and has a lot of people looking forward to the movie. This is nothing like Ant-Man or Doctor Strange whose first appearances was in their solo movies.

Said it before and will continue to laugh at this, but I'll never understand how a website full of people that live in Baton Rouge don't know the difference between rouge and rogue

If you think black people in the U.S. will make up this huge uptick, your delusional. It amazes how people have no understanding of how little black people actually make up the population of this country.

Jesus Christ people, I made a joke about diversity. I could care less about a black lead, or a woman lead for that matter. I like good movies, and I like comic book movies, as do the vast majority of people that watch these movies.

was kind of put off by the trailer using hip hop music as the bed for the soundtrack for this.

Makes total sense to me. Hip hop has been either lauded or deplored as a modern take on tribal African drum music for almost 30 years now. Seems absolutely appropriate for a movie about a place like Wakanda.
