Didn’t realize this was Coach Taylor’s irl daughter. I’ve seen her in a couple of things before, could be good.
I was only mildly interested reading thread title, but Noah Hawley as a show runner has my interest, properly.

Yeah but that's a movie. This is a show. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, but when I know how a show is going to end it starts to drag on if they beat around the bush about it for too long.
Maybe it's just a limited series.

Name a franchise with a more convoluted timeline
I don't see the AvP movies in there.

It can only make sense if that is how the Weiyland corporation became aware of the xenomorph. In Alien, the android seemed to know rather quickly what the creature was and that may be what this sequel leads up to.
That's true. I thought they had just discovered it and diverted the ship to further investigate, but your idea makes sense and could work.

I do get what you're saying, but I think they can still keep it fresh and maybe introduce some lore we haven't seen on screen before without knowing exactly how it'll play out
... IF we get a decent showrunner that can be considered canon

Well those both take place in 2004, so that's easy

I read they are going to dive into the origin of the synthetics. He also said the show will aim to connect more with Alien than Prometheus/Covenant.

Well considering the Alien franchise hasn’t had that I think you’ll be safe

Disney is in charge now so we really aren't

Eh....Alien Resurrection exists.

That's true, but it will be difficult pull off, in my personal opinion. Of course, I may very well be pleasantly surprised.
I actually think it would've been more intriguing if they'd taken a page from the Rogue One playbook and portrayed the events leading directly up to Alien. Like, for example, who and what prompted "Special Order 937" that rerouted the Nostromo towards LV-426.
But portraying what happened 30 years before Alien? Like imjustafatkid said, we already know the ending even if we don't know the exact details. It will end with some kind of cover-up/conspiracy and whatever aliens are involved will end up being killed/captured.
There may be episodic suspense, but there won't be much overall suspense to the series.

Yeah, that would be cool. There's enough of an existing framework based off the original script + director's cut of Aliens. But would be intriguing to stretch that out into an 8-episode mini-series. There's definitely space to explore there...
They'd need to nail the casting for Newt though. She was quietly (no pun intended) one of characters that made Aliens a great movie.

Fear, betrayal, sacrifice, it would offer everything.

That would have great potential as a show or movie.
The Alien universe version of Rogue One.
