Are you this ignorant that you think Indians are Middle Eastern? People were pissed because Disney didn’t give a shot that there is kind of a huge difference between the two cultures and Indians and Pakistanis are not in there Middle East.

I didn't realize that Naomi Scott's background is Indian and not Middle Eastern. My bad. The actor portraying Aladdin was born in Cairo, Egypt, although he grew up in Canada.

I don’t even care about the Will smith genie. That Jafar casting is appalling and atrocious.

Ben Kingsley should have been Jafar.

Oded Fehr should have been Jafar.

This.

Why not watch and enjoy them? I'll go watch the new Lion King and enjoy it.

And then in 3 years when I have my next urge to watch the Lion King I'll most likely put on the animated classic because it's such a great movie.

But I can enjoy both.

but nobody said a word when a black man was cast as the genie.

So what race should a Blue magical creature only ever depicted in a cartoon be?

Favreau's jungle book was at least doing its own thing not just being the cartoon.

Actually its based on an old middle eastern fairy tale from the Arabian Nights book. Genie is usually depicted w/ middle eastern look:

Just rewatched. A few agreements and observations:

Jafar is one of my all time favorite Disney characters. He looks awful in that trialer. Hes supposed to be tall and thin and menacing and evil and sleezy and ruthless.

original cartoon Jafar introduction.

In the preview he looks non of those things. He looks like a normal guy and sounds like a bitch.

Jasmine looks attractive.

Didn't see enough of Aladdin to judge.

Will Smith looked god fricking awful. What a horrendous casting decision. I can't imagine any amount of editing will save his role. He's just playing blue Will Smith. It should've been the rock. He was awesome as Maui in Moana. Would've been great in this too.

It's just a bummer how crazily miscast most of the movies have been. Especially Beauty and the Beast

With the exception of casting Emma Watson as Belle (I know that's a big deal), I thought that the majority of the casting of Beauty and the Beast was pretty spot on. Dan Stevens was fantastic as the Beast and I thought that Luke Evans did well as Gaston. The only other weak link was Josh Gad as Lefou, but even he wasn't as terrible as Jafar and the Genie in Aladdin look to be.

If they were going to do Beauty and the Beast, they should have done it 10 years ago and cast Anne Hathaway as Belle and Hugh Jackman as Gaston.

She was god awful. And I didn't like Beast CGI choices. He was more of a harmless looking goat humanoid than a hideous monstrous beast.

I'd have been more than ok with this. My main beef with movie musicals is the casting of actors who can't sing worth a damn. Other than Will Smith, I have no idea if any of these actors can even carry a tune.

I am curious to see how The Lion King turns out. Disney is also remaking The Little Mermaid with Zendaya playing the part of Ariel.

They cut be prepared, neutered Scar, added extra lion cubs, and cast an unfunny will Smith Clone as Simba. And I can't wait for Zazu to scream what year is it?!?

Also, they are fake lions. They don't have a race.

Disney jaded the frick out of me with The Last Jedi. They are creatively bankrupt and ideologically retarded as a company.

Well, at least she can sing. Rebel Wilson as Ursula though....
