I feel like a thumbs down usage would be even worse
Like being a 1.4/5 stars sucks, but it sounds better than getting a 93 percent THUMBS DOWN rating

i just skipped to five random points in the special and every single one was about sex or another bodily function. "muh vagina" indeed.

She shouldn't worry about the ratings so much as the number of views. Howard Stern built on empire on a good percentage of his listeners who listened to be outraged.
So long as the people who rated her special one star watched it all the way through she's doing really well.

Literally has nothing to do with her.
The ratings system is supposed to help recommendations and it's not

Funny as shite to see a mega corporation doing everything they can to give a special snowflake like Amy Schumer her safe space with limited dissent.

Yeah, the problem with the stars is they either need to make it 10 stars are give you 1/2 star rating ability. A lot of stuff I've watched I felt 4 was too good but 3 was too bad and really wanted to give it 3.5 stars.

Inaccurate ratings will yield inaccurate recommendations
Sounds like the person's fault, not Netflix's. And I thought aht's why they expanded your recommendations with "Because you liked x" so that when you rated a silly movie a 3 or 4, you get silly movie recommendations there and when you rate a documentary 5, you'll get recommendations there.
How is less accurate data going to yield better results?

Yup
Also, I like the idea of thumbs up or thumbs down. Maybe it'll clean up the rating system a bit, which is a mess currently

Pretty soon her standup will consist of her telling jokes, followed by supportive applause by an audience of SJW's.

She's under bigger accusations today. Like joke stealing.

So she is a "comedian" who makes fun of others for a living . . . but she gets her feelings hurt when others make fun of how shitty she is??
That reaction from her might be the funniest thing she's done in years.

It just wasn't that funny. Tired of hearing her talking about her pussy.

It's just kind of the nature of ratings. I might think that something like Godfather is a 5 star movie, and Wayne's World is 4 stars. But I'm not going to watch movies like The Godfather all the time. It takes a little more patience and energy and time commitment. It doesn't mean that I want to be recommended less movies like The Godfather. It just means that I will have to set aside the time for a movie like that while I might just put on a silly comedy for background noise while I do something around the house.
I think that the Netflix people might just have too specific of an idea of what they think these metrics should mean.

The star ratings change was in the works well before this.
