The Patriot was a good, rousing (just not very accurate) portrayal. My BA in History puts me at odds with it at times. Same for Amadeus. Both are extremely entertaining . . . just maddening.
They're still great. I just want to watch a movie of the Minutemen fighting for our rights. We need that, especially right now. Trump should bankroll a film on the revolution. Maybe with a badass like Daniel Morgan.

Why won’t HW, which on the whole hates white males, not make movies about white males establishing a country in a way they completely are in opposition to?
I’m sure there are scripts that tell the stories of how female slaves were actually the ones on the battlefield and writing the Declaration of Independence. Give them time.
In the old days (pre-'60s), US movies made 70% of their money domestically. Unfortunately most Revolution movies -- Allegheny Uprising w/John Wayne, The Howards of Virginia w/Cary Grant (?), Revolutione w/ Al Pacino (???) -- were very bad, and generally lost money. John Ford's Drums Along The Mohawk is easily the best of these films, though you have to pay close attention to even know it's set during the Revolution -- most of the onscreen fighting is against Indians; there's no anti-British dialogue (though we briefly see some uniformed Redcoats among prisoners taken near the end). The UK was a very important foreign market at the time, and studios did not want to alienate British audiences.
Today, US movies make 70% of their money overseas. That has artistic ramifications (don't emphasize dialogue; what talking you do have in a film should be in short, punchy lines like Bond's "She had her kicks" or Ahnuld's "I'll be back") and political/cultural ones as well. Why should foreigners want to see a film showing how great the US is?
A huge percentage of Hollywood funding comes from China and the Arabs -- their reasons for not wanting to see America glorified should be obvious.

Yeah, with Mexicans and blacks portraying founding fathers who were white and of English descent.

China yes but the vast majority of middle eastern countries aren’t very big into cinema at all.

There are so many miracles that took place in the Revolutionary War that are ripe for the making of a film.
A director who loves America could make a hell of a movie based on 1776 by David Mccullough. It is truly unbelievable the things that went our way during that year. Get a stud actor to play Washington and make it about 2 and a half hours long showing the crossing of the Delaware, the battle of Trenton, getting the guns from Fort Ticonderoga...idk why the hell nobody makes it...would make me wanna run through a brick wall.

In the '50s there was a movie called The Scarlet Coat, which looked great (it was shot on location in Upstate NY) but was woefully scripted with a dull romance plot. Arnold himself was only a supporting character.
About 25 years ago there was a TV movie on Arnold starring -- I kid you not -- Kelsey Grammer as Washington. It wasn't terrible, but hardly of the stature the story deserves.

I wonder why this isn’t already in the works. One of the most acclaimed musicals of all time and it’s still touring around the country, so the audiences will absolutely show up.

How I feel about Kingdom of Heaven. Just keep telling myself “this is not a documentary.”

I would have rather seen “Washington” instead of “Lincoln”. Simply bc I’ve seen more on film during the time of Abe. Would have been cool to see Declaration of Independence, revolutionary war, 1st presidency, etc

Yes and I finally saw the directors cut recently which made it much better.

There are so many good untold stories of history. Which is why I get frustrated when we get a movie for every semi interesting recent event.

Agreed. To name a few:
-Sully
-Deepwater Horizon
-Whatever train to Paris
We did not need movies about these.
