Winger T-shirt, making the band an overnight punchline. Sure, they were probably already on a decline at the time, but I'd argue that the show probably put them on the fast track down the toilet, and still affects them on the nostalgia circuit today, unlike several other bands from that era.
Nah. Grunge was in full swing by the time BB came out in 1993.

Outside of Jaws, I think Saving Private Ryan is a good example. Although audiences prior to 1998 had seen plenty of "realistic" Vietnam War scenes, WWII (largely due to the "Greatest Generation's" self-imposed silence on the matter) was sort of the war where the younger generations had an idealistic, halcyon sort of conception about. That was wiped away in 5 minutes of opening beach scene at Normandy. Many many many baby boomers called their dads crying the second they walked out of that movie.

Didn't read the entire thread but China Syndrome comes immediately to mind.

Really neutered the nuclear industry. To our loss

The movie 'All the President’s Men' didn't really reshape what people thought, but the book did, a couple of years earlier. It confirmed our fears that politicians couldn't be trusted. It showed they had no concern for the people in this country, and would get down in the mud, and wallow, to stay in office.

Because of a large number of our parents' generation blindly supported Nixon throughout the whole ordeal, it made us think they were mostly bufoons.

I think the majority of people think dinosaurs look as they're depicted in Jurassic Park when in reality, they cooed instead of roaring and looked like this:

That depiction is a gross exaggeration. There is no fossil evidence that supports that strong of birdlike features.

And carnivorous bipeds weren't the only "dinosaurs." Brachiosaurus and Triceratops almost certainly looked and behaved as depicted.

“Godfather” movies — organized crime was known about in the big cities but the rest of the country was pretty naive about it. Even in the big cities it was a topic not discussed, so the movies shined a light on the subject and it was seen differently afterwards.

For people around my age, I would definitely say GOT has made epic fantasy more mainstream.

Sure, but while many hard rock/metal acts were getting phased out without much fanfare, Winger got singled out by B&B and ultimately became the poster child of uncool acts for eternity. When many of their peers returned many years later to tour the heritage circuit, Winger was still feeling the B&B sting

The funniest part about this is I'm pretty sure Winger is coming to New Orleans pretty soon

Winger was a Christian metal band. They were never cool. They were never going to be cool.

Smokey and the Bandit - Everyone and their mother got a CB after that came out. Not to mention boosting Trans Am sales.

Top Gun hasn't been mentioned in this thread, but I'm sure it helped crotch rocket sales, navy enlistment, and brought sand volleyball back.

Idiocracy is a big one IMO. Just the opening 5 minutes related so much to the world today. A whole lot of terrible truth to it.

The Truman Show is another that comes to mind. I felt it made people question reality.
