From a plot and character standpoint it was the stupidest and most clichéd movie that I've seen since Pacific Rim.
I saw it last night and I don't know why you feel the need to insult Pacific Rim like that.

Pacific Rim was awesomely stupid and cliche, but it was totally self aware. It was just a great time overall. I don't think that's necessarily an insult.
Jurassic World seemed less self aware to me.

That's the point. Pacific Rim knew exactly what it was doing. Jurassic World was trying to be "serious" and just looked ridiculous. It's going to get a pass though because it's Jurassic World.
I watched the movie at home after it came out and finally went and saw it and was astonished at how much worse watching it in a theater made it.

I watched it on my phone a couple days ago, and I enjoyed it still. Different strokes I guess. Of course it was better in a theater, what isn't?

I said watching it in the theater made it worse. The horrible dialogue, delivery, stupid plot points, & horrible characters were all amplified.

Well we're just going to not agree on that

Oh, I know I'm in the minority.

On an unrelated note, people will literally be offended by anything supposedly racist line

I think some people's preconceptions of racism is itself actually pretty racist. That is to say that you probably have to be pretty racist yourself or at least overly concerned with people's races to hear that and then think "racial epithet!" Whatever though.

Just got out of the movie and I haven't read any comments in the thread but I didn't enjoy the movie at all. I am a type of person that will usually like anything but this movie is the same story we have seen before. How many times can dinosaurs start killing people until you finally figure out we shouldn't open a theme park with dinosaurs? The only thing I liked about the movie was the nostalgia/homage the movie payed to the original.

I can only figure the next movie will be whether the animals should be euthanized or not, someone will keep trying to turn them into weapons, and maybe they'll try to start a new park but instead of making dinosaurs they'll make ice age era mammals. Like mastodons, sabertooth tigers, terror birds, or those really big gorillas.

I liked the foreshadowing to the big Rex showdown in the kids bedroom. When he was flipping through the viewfinder

quote:I kind of felt like it was completely self aware. They reference the high heels and how crazy it was that she was wearing them through all of that. There were jokes throughout the movie, even at the serious moments. With the way the babysitter died, how could you think this movie was not self aware? I mean, some of that stuff was completely ludicrous, and the movie was completely aware of it. At least IMO.

Pleistocene Park

It was mentioned earlier, but if the Mosasaurus was able to grab hold of the IRex, the tourists were also at danger in the same area when the park was functioning normally.

I thought they'd broken through to a restricted area.

Nope. Just got out of the movie for Father's Day. It was awful.

The movie was enjoyable, but it lacked heart and creativity. Nothing shocked or amazed me. It felt forced at times, as if the film was simply made as a cash grab.
It was definitely better than the garbage that was 2 and 3, but I will probably never watch it again--by choice.

When Josh Brolin was originally attached to the film, was he going to play the father of the boys or the Raptor Whisperer?
