I hope red letter media decides to do the Schumacher films one day.

You can butcher that in about 20 minutes or less. Its no real mystery on what fricked up on those films and why they suck. Its not like they had Dark Knight Rises expectations. It was just back to the 1960s-70s Batman campiness.

Well if you put a Nolan spin on Superman, how exactly do you explain that he fights without a mask yet NOONE KNOWS WHO HE IS. Also Superman by definition is a dull character. Basically Ill watch the movie because of Nolan, not because its a superman movie

Yes, but Nolan wouldn't approach it in the same way you'd approach Batman. You don't even try to make it realistic. Really just try to make it emotional and more about the characters than the feasibility of the situation. You can make it a lttle more realistic in that how the world would actually react if the Superman existed and he was American, but that's it.

I liked Burton's first Batman but I hated the second. The Penguin was just stupid and the movie sank to campiness.

I thought it was supposed to be Holly Robinson

Yeah, that's who I was thinking as well and was glad to see her in the film as a nod to the fans.

The first one was clearly better, but the second one was pretty fricking good. I liked the penguin. It was a bit campier as far as dialogue (and Bruce Wayne dj'ing a cd with a bat signal on it) was concerned but it was a pretty dark movie.

One thing I'd really love to do with a time machine is go back to the late 80s and certainly the 60s and show them either TDK or TDKR and see what their reactions would be. People in the 60s I think would be dumbfounded on how dark it was.

I've had this conversation with my friends a few times already and we all basically agreed that we weren't sure if they would be willing to show it in theaters. What was "R" rated back then would probably pass for pg-13 or even pg today.

It would blow the Adam west version out of the water though. I would also take the designs for an IMAX theater so it can be shown to its maximum potential.

What's the point of posting a review at this point just to give it a perfect score?

I'm with you on Bane's speaking scenes. The muffled sound coming from his mask was a bit difficult to understand. I hope there's a little more sound editing prior to the Blu Ray release.

My mom and her husband have never seen these movies so over Christmas I am essentially doing just this. I am very curious to see what they think.

Also I don't think the 80s crowd would be too shocked. Burton's films had a bunch of creepy clowns kidnapping a bunch of kids to drown them in toxic waste, plenty of people are shot, plenty of people die, joker's artwork (deformed girlfriend)

Now I definitely think Nolan's films set a darker tone, but alot of people seem to remember Burton's batman as some campy Adam west shite when in fact they are pretty dark (i mean 80s Tim burton directed these movies for Christ's sake) the plots weren't anything great but the style and production design were incredible.

Because I haven't seen it until yesterday. And so what if it was a four star review? Would it be a better review if I lied and said that the film was shite and blew the bad stuff out of proportion like all these 13 year olds are doing? I don't see why having a worse score would have made my review better.

Well you got to keep in mind that Burton's tone wasn't exactly established at the time. People just thought Beetlejuice was weird really.

But I don't think the 80s would respond positively to either TDK or TDKR. It wouldn't be negative really, but they'd much prefer the stylized Burton versions compared to the more serious and terrorizing Nolan versions. You got to keep in mind that these two films are almost entirely defined by the eras of their release. TDK was pretty much the mindset of Americans during the Bush administration, mostly to do with the War on Terror. TDKR was a product of our mentality during the Obama administration, with the War on Terror still going on, but also the war between classes. Honestly decades from now, people will look back on these two films to see how the average American perceived the world. They're morally ambiguous films which will help each respected person embody themselves into the situation and form their own opinions. Both of these films are very, very important films that won't be forgotten any time soon.

I finally got around to watching this movie yesterday... I really liked this movie, i'm not trying to diss it, but I really don't understand the hype. I left the theater feeling like that was great movie, but i wasn't mind blown like after I watched Inception. Overall great movie though, I really liked the ending. Overall i give it a 7. The whole balancing the rich and poor thing irks me too, reeks of Obama. I highly doubt rich people in NYC are gonna let thugs in there building to take their loot, that's not happening.

also i saw you had the Batman with Kim Basinger down your list, i'd put it in the top 3 batman movies.

Which means Bruce was back in Gotham a day or two before, possible reconnaissance of the city.

He must have used this time to paint the bat symbol on the brooklyn bridge in napalm.

This is by far the best review I've seen of this film on the board. The only difference I have is I actually rank this movie first because of the problem I have getting over dent's change , but that's merely a matter of opinion in the rankings area.

You don't think Bruce Wayne had reserve offshore accounts to rely on? I don't think they really needed to even explain this.

This, he probably has a home on nearly every continent with a private jet or some shite.

Fox, Bane letting him live is part of his character. He is extremely arrogant and believes that he and his plans are unbreakable. Plus he stated someone of Fox's stature needed to see the new world.

I agree it's part of his character, but only because he seemed to purposefully not kill anyone important, because he wanted to let them feel that despair he felt.. but with a little hope. (remember the speech?)

Also he had a connection with tate, and that let her keep her cover for a longer period.

The question isn't how he got the finances to get back to Gotham, just how he got downtown with total lockdown.

Total lockdown on an island the size of manhattan? really? C'mon.. I mean as batman he would sneak into a room full of people without them noticing.

I think that ppl who complained about tdkr not being realistic as opposed to TDK forget that batman fell from a 30 story building and survived. Its based on a comic book, get over it
