Man, TJ has come a really long way. From reading a script to making his own dialogue on the spot.

One thing that really dates one season: TJ starting a challenge by announcing the winners will receive a camera with an LED screen on the front so that you can take better “self shots”.

The giveaways are pretty bad. They did giveaway a schwinn motor scooter, though, that was pretty badass.

Most of the other stuff wouldn't get $50 on eBay now. The biggest cheer of the season was a Sidekick 3 with "1 year free email."

LMAO I had no idea Bananas lost the 1st episode of his 1st season.

I think most would agree Bananas, Wes and Jordan are the most well rounded men ever on the show.

But who is the most well rounded woman? Ashley? She's won twice, she's been to at least 4 finals I think

Ashley won on Hunter’s back.

Define well-rounded. Based on my own definition, I’d say Emily Schromm. Strong, good endurance, good athlete overall, wasn’t a complete and total head case.

She's super manipulative and knows how to play the alliance game. She's good at puzzles, decent swimmer, she has endurance, she's got heart.

I disagree that she won on Hunters back she more than held her own. She's made it to the Final in maybe half the seasons she's been in

Go back and watch all of John's early seasons... He was a total afterthought.

I just started The Island, which was right after he got kicked off Gauntlet 3 early yet again and was barely featured on the show.

His early seasons, he was very soft spoken and just kind of blended in. He was perceived as one of the weaker guys because almost all of the eliminations back then were physical and the alliance/manipulation game hadn't really gone full scale yet.

I think he made a concerted effort on the island to be the star of the show.

He and Kenny ran the whole game. He constantly made fun of All the girls and made jokes about how crazy they were and called them dumb bitches. It was hilarious, but he'd be kicked off the show now.

He really went after Tonya and Kellyanne, both of whom who were obviously unstable. Every girl not in his alliance hated him, but he was easily the most featured guy on the show besides Kenny.

Thats also the first season I remember them calling him Bananas. He knew what he was doing. Without many alpha guys on that year, he became the focus. That was also his first win. But amazingly, he should have gone home on the second episode. He lost an elimination to Derrick and the house was going to vote him off the island, but Abe had business matters to attend to back home and he told them to vote him off.

They hated John so much, many of the cast ignored Abe's wishes and voted John anyway. He barely survived.

Amazing what he became. He was just really ahead of the curve on playing the game. It also helped that he was very good at finals.

Lol yeah I literally just finished watching Bananas get eliminated by Evan in a puzzle. I thought for sure this was going to be the beginning of the Bananas legend.

Also s14 is not on cbs all access

Sorry for making this my challenge journal but watching season 15 little Adam is a beast. And its hilarious the men on the Vet team are so pussy everyone was scared of Big Easy and it cost them the win. Even then Evan is so stupid for trying to sprint they really should of stopped a few times and let Big Easy rest and they would of had a chance

Lol now on season 16. This seems like a layup for Bananas only competition looks like Derrick

It's crazy to me that CBS is airing the challenge seasons and MTV only has a few of the latest.

He had the Johnny Bananas nickname back on Real World. It got shortened to just Bananas on The Challenge.

There's some real shenanigans going on with CBS. Inferno III was Dave Mirra's last hosting gig I think. Maybe the family or CBS didn't want to air it because he's gone now... I don't know.

But then I start watching Duel II (season 17), and the whole f-ing first episode is gone... Can't watch it. It's the infamous CT - Adam King fight.

Then I went back and apparnry CT got kicked off Inferno III for fighting as well. So, both seasons CT gets kicked off of are either edited out or gone completely. Doesn't make any sense.

I contemplated starting a standalone "Classic Challenge Re-watch" thread since a few of us are seemingly burning through the CBS app library.

These old challenges are very fun to watch. Even the Island, which some people hate and some loved, is good simply because of the cast.

I'll probably stop at Rivals II. That's kind of the end of the classic heydey and before they started using all the gimmicks like the Redemption house and stealing everyone's money, and bloodlines and AYTO cast, etc. Once Kenny and Evan left, the show wasn't nearly as entertaining.

Johanna and Derrick are my least favorite couple ever. Johanna is shite at everything. Kenny is extremely overrated as a competitor.

And I'm laughing my arse off at Paula for getting manipulated by Bananas

I have to say this win should count as like half a win for Bananas there was absolutely no competition

Why is the first episode of season 17 missing?

The Island is one of the weakest shows from a competitive standpoint. There was absolutely one there to challenge Kenny and John. Derrick was the only one that could have, but he chose to be a silent member of their alliance.

Thats a season that really needed CT. He and Evelyn could have teamed up and wiped the floor with everyone else. Dunbar was useless. I think he's my least favorite male challenger of any relevance. He was actually terrible at everything.

Wes and Danny teaming up with Evelyn would of been good

Also who do you think is the most well rounded girl ever on the show? My pick was Ashley.

Most well rounded? I'd have to go Ev. She was smart to go along with her athleticism. I think she was a Softball player at Arizona, but she gave up the scholarship to go on the Challenge.

Most physically dominating is Emily Schromm. I put her slightly ahead of Laurel because I think she can run better and had a much better political game. It seemed like everyone liked her, whereas lots of people hated Laurel.

Cooke, who was only on a couple of seasons, had real potential.

Ev getting beat at the very beginning in Freshmeat to me was weak. And based on the island season I don't think she's good at the "social" game.

I only vaguely remember Emily but in a hall brawl or pole wrestle thats all strength I would think Kam has a good chance. Stamina wise Dee was pretty damn good too. The 2 finals she was in were the toughest I have seen.

On a side note this guy Derrick from season 17 with the huge shoulders is worthless. The definition of looks like Tarzan plays like Jane

Anessa is seriously cursed she ALWAYS gets put in to elimination right before the final LMAO

Just finished season 17 Rachel is a beast she beat Brad and Evan in the Final. Also Mark is cool for not freaking out and finishing the final with Anessa

On to season 18 this doesn't seem even remotely competitive. Wes Bananas Evan Darrell and Derrick vs Brad, Adam and .... Danny I guess lol There has to be some twist

Dunbar is completely useless and is lucky to have been relevant on these shows for as long as he was.

As for best girls, the first few that came to my mind reading y'alls posts were Ev, Emily, Cooke, and Susie. I'm sure I could come up with another one for a top five, but those were all good at challenges, athletic, smart, solid social games, and didn't get blindingly drunk every night, and were generally well-liked (I think people hated Susie for a minute though).

The Island was very stange in that it was basically all a numbers game, and EV didn't have the numbers and she knew it. That's why she was so bitchy for most of the season. She knew was going to get boxed out of any power.

But she still won anyway. She made the decision to go after Dunbar insead of John because she knew that her boat was a lock to win with him, Kenny and Derrick. Her political game was better Emily S. our Laurel. But all of them had the advantage of physically intimidating all the other girls. That goes a long way.

It's like CT in his prime. He went 6 full seasons without ever going into an elimination. That's crazy but it's because everyone was scared of him 1 on 1.

I can't hardly remember him ever getting legitimately beaten until he was old and out of shape. He got DQd against Brad once, but lost on a technicality. I think Johnny maybe beat him once in a puzzle, but that's about it.

Kenny is so fricking annoying all he ever did was ride Evan and Bananas coattails. How do the girls get manipulated every season?

How about Rachel her beating Evan and Brad was really impressive IMO

OMG these girls are morons especially Johanna. Susie isn't much better.

And Brad and Dunbar should of put pressure on Casey to quit a long long long time ago

fricking season 18 is worse than the Island season

Rachel would definitely be in my top five. Unless I’m missing somebody obvious. But she was awesome too. And well liked by everybody.

I don’t know why you hate Kenny so much. I loved that dude. He was hilarious, played a good social game, and was actually pretty good at the athletic stuff.
