As others have said, the producers are ruining this show solely over some minuscule social media shite no one even knows about. Say what you want about Dee, she’s at least entertaining. These last two episodes would’ve been epic with her blowing up and then going batshit on Bananas and Company. Instead we get some baby-back-home and fake injury nonsense. I really do hope she makes it all the way and wins.

quote:

Josh is a fricking pussy and an idiot. Dude talks so much shite and then is all “I don’t want to go down there unless I see it and am confident.” GTFO, dude. As much as I hope Kyle can get through, I almost hope that they get fricked for avoiding elimination this long and TJ is just like “okay that’s it, y’all go home.”

1000%

As you mentioned, Kyle seems like a solid dude so would be fine with him getting a chance, but I’d easily rather see Josh’s pussy arse just get shown the door without ever getting a choice. His boy Fesse is nice about it but is basically calling him a puss. Idk how everyone puts up with the dude, he’s unbearable.

I love that they have to win something to get to the final, but this setup has basically ruined all the strategy and backstabbing we normally get.

Dee getting betrayed was the big move of the season and they edited it all out.

don't understand the thinking on this one, MTV is basically ruining the only two shows they air that actually draw eyes to appease the smallest but loudest people in the room.

For whatever reason, MTV apparently still thinks every 15-20 yr old in America watches their network.... They don't. They don't give 2 shits about the network.

It's clear who MTVs crowd is by looking at their 3 or 4 original shows besides Ridiculousness that actually air.

The Challenge - a show that began in 1998 and was popularized in the early-mid 00s

Siesta Key - a show that is a direct copy of The Hills, that began airing in 2006 after a spinoff of a popular show about the Class of 2004.

Jersey Shore - a show that premiered in 2009 and peaked about a year or 2 later.

MTV's audience is obviously people who have stuck with their favorite concepts and characters essentially from the mid 00s...15 yrs ago.

It's a total case of not knowing your audience at all and thinking Twitter, which has been proven time and time again as a far left wing echo chamber made up of less than 1/3 of the population, your guiding light.

Now I'm no arithmetic genius, but I'd think basing my entire network strategy at the absolute detriment of my product on that miniscule figure as probably a bad business decision.

Right, but my point is he was still a "college athlete." Which means he is at least athletic in some regard. But dude couldn't even manage to run back and forth against a shipping container and lost to a Cory hobbled on one foot.

ETA: Are people actually going a MTV on social media for this bullshite? Like are people bitching at them and being mad that they are editing so much good shite out of the show solely because they are trying to be as woke as possible?

Exactly. They really did me, personally, a disservice by not letting me laugh at Dee's idiot face as she reacted to Rogan saying to throw her in. How dare they deprive me of that.

Does Cory have a kid back home?

I had no idea.

Is her name Ryder? Cuz they only shoved that down our fricking throats 37 times in about 20 minutes. And I honestly think they showed the same clip of Cory looking at her polaroids like three different times just from three different angles and acted like that was all he did each and every night.

You left off Teen Mom, which I’ve never watched before but it seems like it’s been on for at least a decade as well.

I know they hired a firm to look up everyone’s posting history. Something tells me if they are consistent, there will be 2-3 cast members left. There will be entire episodes of Cory playing memory games with his daughter while neither his ex nor his current fiancée are on the air

The firing of Dee is an overreaction and the edits are annoying. This episode wasn’t that important and there have been episodes where people like Melissa and Mattie got no air time. However it was absurd how they showed Kyle’s face when she was talking. As the season progresses I don’t know how they can continue to do this since there will be fewer people.

The thing they did with Cory’s fiancée is even dumber bc there was literally an episode where his ex talks to her about her racist posts from 2011. Unlike Dee’s stuff, it was actually mean-spirited but it was years before she was on TV. And MTV knew about it. It was literally a plot point on a current show where she apologizes. So MTV can’t feign ignorance. It’s like a Republican senator who is very online saying they didn’t see a Trump tweet.

It’s hypocritical and no one is buying it

Neither Dee nor Taylor Selfridge should have been fired.

As for the guy from Siesta Key, the guy is clearly racist. His posts are by far the most offensive of the group and he also the video where they kill the shark and drag it. But the shark video was known before the series even started. His dad paid for the first episode and MTV clearly liked it so they ignored it. I didn’t look at the timeline of his posts but i saw some of those on VEVMO in the past so if I’ve seen it, clearly MTV producers saw it.

It’s again hypocritical on their part but Alex is enough of a piece of shite person that it doesn’t bother me as much as the Dee situation or Cory’s fiancée.

As for this episode, it looks like there are at least 8 people in the final when they are hiking up the mountain. We have 9 people qualified at the moment. I wonder how many more episodes are left before then. I’m guessing two or three but there may be an odd number of finalists bc of Dee winning two eliminations.

Swaggy was a walk-on at a Metro Athletic school. Basically the equivalent of being a walk-on at McNeese or Lamar or something. He kept turning off his lights so I guess his memory isn’t as good as he thinks.

He seems fairly mentally stable although overly confident of his intelligence and athleticism. Bayleigh on the other hand is going to be hated very fast bc she loses her shite the minute he is gone.

Eta: the firm was only hired for Teen Mom cast members, apparently.

I never cared for the Alex got and thought he was actually really bad on the show, but, as you said, they still knew who they were getting in bed with.

I stopped watching Siesta Key after about half of the first season, but I would assume the show is likely now dead, unless they do some kind of big reboot.

That little disclaimer before the episode about them firing Dee was really pathetic. I guess people were wondering so they had to say something.

I liked seeing Melissa go off on Josh. Dude is such a fricking idiot. How does he know when its his time? He's gonna run out of time while waiting for his time. I don't know why anyone likes him.

I can't be the only one that wants to see Fessie vs Turbo somewhere down the line. These are two of the most athletic guys in the show's history both in their prime. It needs to happen.

Fessie would wreck Turbo in anything physical but the we still don't know how good Fessie is at major endurance.

John is still going to be dangerous in the final because of this.

The match I'd like to see is Roid monster CT circa mid-00s v. Fessie and then prime Derrick K. v. Turbo. I think Derrick would actually beat Turbo in just about anything.

He took out steroid Joss, with a 50-lb weight advantage, when he was like 40.

He also finished 2nd just a couple years ago, also at like 40. Put him against Turbo when he was in his 20s and it would be game on.

Turbo may be crazy, but Derrick is the most mentally tough Challenger ever, with a heart of a lion, and I don't think there's a close 2nd.

Landon probably. He pushed a chick up a mountain to win.

Obviously you are all spot on with the Dee edit. I didn't even realize she was on the winning team at first, that's how much they edited her out, and then the "tri"bunal was almost 100% Fessy and Bayleigh.

And yes, Josh is an idiot... he's one of the worst new competitors in a while. I guess MTV feels like he's good TV.

Swaggy might have won had he not been an idiot and turned off his lights.

Can we search for things Rob Dyrdek has done in the past? I’m sure he has dressed in blackface or used the n word at least once.

Wow, watched a few old episodes on Pluto TV...forgot how terrible Shane was. He's easily one of the worst people ever on the show.

Wait, what? Derrick K. Is only thirty f-ing six??!?

He was on Road Rules.. Which went off the air I think around the time CT did Real World Paris.

Thats insane. He must've been like 18 when he was on the show. Hell, John and Wes have to both be older than that now. So he was only like 34-osh when he probably did that season against Joss. That's crazy.

Those guys like Syrus and Mark Long have to be like in their mid 50s by now. They were old back in days of Dave Mirra and Johnny Moseley.

Mark just turned 49.

Syrus will be 49 later this year.

According to Wiki, he was 20 when the show filmed in 2004.

Wes and Derrick were both quite young for their seasons. I think Susie was 18.

However MTV used to have 19-22 year olds for their shows. Now they go more for 23-26 for their rookies. I don’t mean guys like Joss or Turbo coming from other franchises.

In regards to Cory and the stuff about his daughter, that was forced for a reason. MTV is trying to organically cross promote. Cory joined the Teen Mom cast a few years ago. They mention it whenever they can on the Challenge. When he’s on Teen Mom, they’ve been mentioning The Challenge often to gain more interest/new audience
