The two movies that blow my mind are The Santa Clause (1994) and Toy Story (1995).

The thing that always blows my mind is that the Lion King came out just 1 year before Toy Story.

Toy Story was so far ahead of its time it's not even funny. What Pixar did was amazing and changed animation.

’m crazy, because Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings are way more culturally relevant.

Think this is a generational thing. Millennials act like Harry Potter is Star Wars or something. People only slightly older couldnt give a patooty about Harry Potter nor know anything about it.
Everyone's seen Shrek, though.

Never mind the fact that Generation X parents were taking their Millennial children to the theater to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, helping to make it the highest grossing movie of 2001.

Ocean's Eleven is a great movie, one I'll watch whenever it's on. The whole series is good, including Ocean's Eight. Training Day is a top five movie for me.

Same. I'm only 28 but even this thread makes me feel like I'm old.

still remember watching Pearl Harbor in the theatre and thinking it's a shame that now we'll have to wait like 30 years before someone makes a good movie about it.

I remember all the hype the film got and how they even had a gigantic premiere and outdoor screening of the film at Pearl Harbor and had all those old survivors and military people there to watch it right before it hit theaters. I thought then it was just an incredible gesture.

Then I went and saw the film and 20 minutes in, my mouth was open and I was thinking, "what the hell is this shite?" and being so confused as to what I was watching. It was terrible. It was the complete polar opposite of the theater experience I had with LOTR that same year, which was awe inspiring.

Then all I could think of when I got out of the film was how all those 80 and 90 year old pearl harbor dudes had to sit through the same shite I just saw. It actually intensified my hate for all things Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay at the time.

Is still a disaster of a film, but there are actually some parts in the second half that are entertaining.

Do you think in 2039 someone will be creating a thread to commemorate all of 2019's timeless classics?:

The Lion King CGI remake
Frozen II
Star Wars 9
It - Chapter II
Alita: Battle Angel
Terminator Dark Fate
Men in Black: International
Pet Sematary remake
Charlie's Angels reboot

Truly a slate which society will cherish and talk about forever.

Exact same. Saw all of them in theaters except Bridget Jones. We used to go to the movies every Sunday after church
