Meh. It's not for everyone, but this is a great, great movie - worthy of a score in the 80s, IMHO.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (78%!)

Definitely - anything over 50 is shocking for this one.

Kingdom of Heaven (39%)

Agreed. Not the best movie of all time, but definitely well above average - parts of it are incredible - Norton's performance as the leper king - for example.

And not surprisingly, I'll offer Star Trek (2009) - I harbor a deep and abiding hate for this film. It scores 95% on RT - seriously? 95%? I do not get the universal acclaim for this film.

It has the worst actress, Melissa McCarthy, and the worst actor, Jason Statham, in the same film. How in the fricking frick is this horrible looking film a 95% on rotten tomatoes?

The movie is definitely not worthy of a 95% rating, but Jason Statham is pretty funny in it. It has its moments. Its not as much of an abortion as every poster on this board makes it out to be.

Underrated:
"300" at 60% - its underrated by most critics
"The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" at 59%
"Grandma's Boy" at 18% - audience at 85%
"The Thing" at 80% - was at 79% not long ago, should be 90+

Rotten Tomatoes was around when Home Alone was released?

I smell bull shite.
No I think they try to identify past reviews (or reviewers retroactively submit them), but I think that this often causes a bias. I would be skeptical of the % of older films, unless they have a large sample.

I agree. Older movies get a little bit of a nostalgia boost.

Sigh. Rotten Tomatoes didn't "get anything wrong." The website is a review aggregator. It takes movie reviews from critics and posts them on its website, assigning an average score based on the star or letter grade the critics hand out.

I can understand those who criticize the website for allowing lesser known critics and bloggers to post their reviews on their site. That is why I look at both Rotten Tomatoes and Meta Critic. Meta Critic only posts big name critics to its website.

You're definitely in the minority. I only know of a couple of people who didn't like this movie. I loved it. I liked how they were able to tell the origin story without messing up the original timeline and setting up for more adventures with the new crew. It was a fun story that was well paced and never dull. It also remained fairly consistent and lacked significant plot holes when utilizing time travel and wormholes, a rare thing in movies. I think it deserves every bit of praise it gets. The only people I know that hate it just don't like it because they don't want to imagine anyone else but William Shatner as Kirk, and didn't like the fact that it had more action than they were used to.
