Watching the first Poltergeist when I was a kid caused me to be apprehensive of clowns ever since.

Same with me, but it was due to Pet Semetary. After that, I would take off running and jump onto the bed for atleast 2-3 years.

Does a post-traumatic disorder count? I became Hudson from Aliens when I was recently attacked by a thousand wasps and stung by a few, and after bugging out, I had to go back and retrieve the bucket I dropped in my blind panic. I would not have been mistaken for a man that day.

Jaws made me scared of sharks for a while.
IT didn't instill a fear of clowns, but it gave me nightmares for months. After re-watching several years later, I don't know why it had such a profound effect on me.
Arachnophobia didn't cause my fear or spiders, but I'm sure it didn't help anything. I still hate spiders with a passion.

I was eight when I got to go and see Jaws when it came out. I admit, I wouldnt even get in a pool for a long while.

I'm not really terrified of sharks as much as deep water. I can't stand any deep water where I can't see below the surface, as I'm always afraid of being pulled under.

LOL, Critters did the exact same thing to me. Just like JJ27, I had to run and jump on my bed for a long time. I love those movies now though.
