The Matrix
The pod racer scene in Episode 1
Actually, the lobby scene was and still is a good test at reference level to determine if the amps will go into safe mode. But I wouldn't try it with an HTIB at reference...
The Dark Knight is one of the best audio engineered Blu-rays but it is harder to guess at streaming content.

Captain America: Civil War
The scene where Cap confronts Bucky in his apartment, the Germans move in, ending with the car chase has some exciting audio.
The scene in Cloverfield where the army is fighting the monster in the city streets is very exciting.

Finally set up my Yamaha 5.1 system (nothing special, just a home theatre in a box, but it’s perfect for the size apartment I’m in.) Any suggestions on movies that will put the system to use? Something on Netflix or Amazon, I’m assuming Iron Man or Captain America: Civil War? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Or YouTube videos.

The OG "test your surround sound" movie.
Apocalypse Now is the true OG sound test movie.
Just watched The Gift this week, and the psycho character even brings it up: "you can hear the choppers going left to right on your speakers"

“Heat” is my go to for showing off my sound system. The heist scene (which is the first scene in the movie) and the shootout scene are incredible.

This guy gets it.
Mad Max had the loudest and most epic score in a VERY long time! This will definitely test out the surround sound.

You joke,
I'm not joking. Watch that scene with an awesome surround sound system. My brother in law used to teach film production at Loyola. He used to show his class that scene when he was talking about sound mixing.

Pearl Harbor battle scene is insane with a good surround sound. Just make sure to turn the movie off as soon as its over

Terminator 2. My sted dad used to own a business selling surround sound home theater units and alarm systems. He had a laser disc set up in the showroom and we would show customers the opening scenes of T2 and people would be blown away

Saving Private Ryan opening is one of my favorites to hear the discrete channels.
SW1 pod race and SW2 Jango dropping the sonic bombs are nice tests
LOTR trilogy extended in DTS 6.1 is awesome all over.
Transformers is really good as well, tons of explosions (Bay film) and sounds sweet when they transform as well.

I agree. I also enjoy testing on the shoot outs and car chases in Ronin.

Be careful with Dunkirk. The theatre almost blew my ears out with the first ten seconds of the first scene.
