Her career is on a decline right now. Passengers bombed, no one cared about the mop movie, and the last X-Men and Hunger Games movies both had disappointing box offices. She needs a hit before her star power slips too much.

Many believe it’s going lower because audiences since last night have been hating on the Darren Aronofsky-Jennifer Lawrence team-up. mother! was sold like a Screen Gems horror film, but when moviegoers finally get inside the theater, they find out it’s something completely different.

This is exactly what I was referring to in the main mother thread when I said "by getting cock slapped by an aronofsky film."

I really like Arnofsky, but it looks like the ratings for this are not holding up that well

Should I go see Mother! or It tonight?

I'm still going to watch it. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

You should only expect so much from 2012's It Girl in 2017.

I like directors who try new things and take a risk. They can't all be winners.

I was expecting a Rosemary's Baby like thriller. When I read the synopsis, I was glad I didn't waste my time.

FWIW the wife and I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. Definitely "out there" and chock full of metaphors.

He makes ambitious films that are usually very divisive. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But I applaud him for taking risks when everyone else is just remaking old films and putting out trash sequels.

You know, I saw the movie and didn't particularly like it. Thought it was a C- at best. Reading what you just wrote pleases me and makes me happy that I paid to go see it. I complain about all the shitty rehashes, unnecessary comic book movies, and unoriginal ideas. Even though this one was a miss for me, at least he's giving art an attempt

I'm no longer a Jennifer Lawrence fan. The bitch just can't keep her mouth shut. She's paid to entertain, not to pontificate about politics.

I feel this way about all entertainers even those who agree with me.
