Back on topic, I’m really looking forward to It Chapter 2.

Also, I think The New Mutants may be good.

The Joker as Batman's long lost brother wouldn't be the basis for a good story. It's a played out lazy as shite cliche that would significantly cheapen how frightening his insanity can be.

Is that really what they are going with?

Just what we need, another “Save Martha” situation.

Joker to Batman: I'm going to kill your mom.

Batman to Joker: please don't kill Martha.

Joker: MARTHA! WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!

That is stupid.

All they did was take part of the story of Owlman and apply it to the Joker.

Hopefully not but that's been a persistent rumor for a while now.

I’ve been avoiding leaks but this is pretty bad. The ambiguity of Joker’s backstory is part of the appeal, and I don’t mind another differing backstories being told... but this kind of shits on the type of people Thomas and Martha were.

Just to add an art house movie

Lord of Chaos is getting a proper release this year, one of the craziest stories in the world of music ever.

Wes Anderson's next film, The French Dispatch is tentatively scheduled to be released by the end of this year but it's still filming

These are the four I'm most excited for tho...

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Avengers: End Game
The Irishman
Glass

Originally, Owlman is an unnamed super-intelligent supervillain who was created as an evil counterpart to Batman and is a member of the criminal organization known as the Crime Syndicate of America who originated and operated on the reverse Earth-Three.

quote:

On antimatter Earth, Owlman was now Thomas Wayne Jr., the older brother of that reality's Bruce Wayne. In most mainstream DC universes, Batman's genesis occurred when young Bruce Wayne was witness to the murder of his parents, and was inspired to devote his life to fighting crime. In the antimatter universe, however, young Bruce was killed along with his mother by a policeman when Thomas Sr. refused to accompany him for questioning after he performed an illegal medical procedure. Thomas Jr. escaped the crime scene with the hoodlum Joe Chill, whom he considered his hero, and grew up to become Owlman. Equipping himself with a utility belt containing technology and weapons similar to those used by Batman along with possessing a drug-enhanced high intellect (devoted to crime rather than serving the law), Owlman became a master criminal and an ally to Boss Gordon (the antimatter Earth's version of James Gordon) and underboss Lucius Fox.[1]
There are also variations where he murdered Bruce and his parents.

The long lost brother storyline is just awful though.

TIFWIW...

quote:

“THE JOKER Is Not The Movie You Think It Is“

I’ve been hearing for a while that Todd Phillips’ The Joker is going to really surprise people when it comes out later this year. I’ve felt, all along, that there’s some misdirection going on when it comes to this movie, and recent whispers only intensify that suspicion.

What I mean is, there’s been lots of stuff leaked onto the web from the film’s location shooting here in New York. And I’ve been of the mind that some of the stuff that’s leaked was filmed specifically to throw people off. They know this stuff will be uploaded and scrutinized, and they want you to focus on certain key things, yet some of those things may be smoke and mirrors.

I’ve spoken to a source on the film who can confirm that there have been scenes and sequences that have made their way onto the web that will be drastically different in the film itself.

I can also tell you that, tonally, the film doesn’t feel like anything else we’ve seen in the comic book genre. Possibly ever. When I asked my source what the tone and feel of the film is, I was told that it’s very much a tragic character study. When discussing the film’s subject matter, words like “heartbreaking,” “pitiful,” and “a tragedy” come up a lot.

I also hear the film definitely has a political bent, with some pointed commentary on Donald Trump. We’re talking “V For Vendetta” style political undercurrents.

With that in mind, I’ve heard comparisons made between The Joker and the raw 70s/80s storytelling style of filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Sidney Lumet. In particular, I keep hearing the film has a very “Taxi Driver meets The King of Comedy” vibe- which may explain why Scorsese was once rumored to be producing the film.

Well, The Joker did have an original backstory. He was The Red Hood, a petty thief, who became The Joker after Batman failed to save him.

There is nothing wrong with creating new stories, but making him Batman’s brother is just stupid.

Ugggghhhhh...

Everything up to that point sounded good though.

The Joker’s backstory is a tragic one.

Leaking something like Joker is Batman's brother pissing off the film's built in fanbase starting them with a negative view of the movie in the name of misdirection seems like one of the dumbest fricking pre release strategies ever.
